We are nearing the end of planting potatoes at last, Jonnie is seen here looking perplexed πŸ€” / exhausted... Jonnie, Nick and Annie have done a great job, the farm has never looked so good! Nearly there guys. πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘ŠπŸ‘ŠπŸ‘Š
The plant nursery is nearly empty, a few varieties of squash, some broccoli and cauliflowers still to go in... then he is off on holiday for a well earned break.☺️ Then the picking starts... πŸ˜‚

Yorkshire spinach today, 🌱Yorkshire red and yellow peppers due tomorrow.... what a treat. This spinach is gorgeous! The peppers will be the first peppers we have EVER had from Yorkshire.. apart from some farm chilli peppers last year... which failed dismally.πŸ’πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ We are doing chillis again this year and they are coming on nicely, this year we are going to get them right!
Buying local is a great way to minimise your environmental impact, we buy as local as we can as an orga...nisation and grow as much as we can as farmers, as the U.K. season gains more momentum your food miles are going down dramatically by the day!! πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸŒΎπŸ€

Has anyone got any original recipes to use spinach? We get asked all the time as people love it but can find it hard to cook it right as it’s so delicate! Please comment for the benefit of others. πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ™πŸΌThank you!

Have you tried raw milk before??
We are an official milk round for Emma’s Dairy. Raw milk is unhomogenised and unpasteurised, it’s proper stuff, like milk used to be! Full of essential natural fats ( unmodified unlike pasteurised milk) and good for the gut, most of all its delicious. ☺️
It’s seasonal as the cows only produce enough milk in the summer for the dairy to bottle it raw. They only eat organic grass and live in the rolling hills around Clitheroe on @gazegillorgani...cs organic farm. Gazegill also do %100 grass fed non gmo meat boxes and have a small farm shop. You can also pick up their meat from us. πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸŒΎ
Get in touch with us to find out more about raw milk. πŸ„

The crows have attacked yesterday’s kale 😩 This can happen when they are hungry, they pull the kale out of the ground and inspect the roots for slugs leaving the plant to perish in the sun! It’s not the end as we can go through and replant as long as the plants have not too dehydrated. πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸŒΎπŸŒ±πŸ‘Š #farming #organicpantry

Jonny is having a look at the germinating sweet corn seed, you can see the small shoot that will eventually produce 2-3 corn husks!🌽
With a good watering last week and some strong sun this week the farm will pick up some momentum. The cold weather slowed down our salads in particular so looking forward to seeing them again. πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸŒΎ
Nick and Annie are out cultivating the veg field to get the soil nice and fine for planting. The green Kale and broccoli are going in this afternoon.... 🌱🌿πŸ₯¦

Baby Salad onions in the nursery, the silver crumbs you can see is vermiculite, this is used for the retention of water in the plugs and aeration of the soil..... πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸŒΎIt’s all about plant vigour and a good start for the plant, if we get this bit right there will be big fat salad onions to eat in several weeks...πŸ‘ŒπŸ½πŸŒ±

Radishes arriving soon....πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸŒΎ in a couple of weeks there will be lots of different lines coming off the farm.
Nick, Lea and Annie have been seeding, working the land and planting like mad for the last month and it’s starting to come to fruition. This time of year is often known as the hungry gap but thanks to our polytunnels, good farming and hard work we can get a head start and have fresh local produce to keep our customers happy! πŸ₯¬πŸ₯’πŸ₯¦πŸŒ½πŸ₯•
Fresh spring greens in the boxes ne...xt week, some farm cauliflowers, farm leeks, maybe even the first of our courgettes depending on the weather... πŸ™πŸΌβ˜€οΈ

This is where the waste food that we don’t send to you guys goes, still good grub but maybe a small imperfection or slightly over ripe. Usually perfect for eating but won’t last long! So if you can’t get enough of our veg, try this food charity in North Leeds, great people and a fantastic cause.... and the food is delicious. πŸ˜‹

Loaded table ferments are back in stock mid next week. πŸ™πŸΌ Delicious product, full of gut loving bacteria. They also do workshops so you can make you own! Check them out . πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡
