Really nice location for camping in relaxing surroundings.

We braved a March camp in our tent and had the most wonderful weekend. Booking was easy and communication perfect. Upon arrival we were shown to our pitch and were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. The nearby toilets were always clean, as was the lovely warm shower, both in a shepherd’s hut. Naturally we had a log fire and the amount of wood provided for £4 was plentiful. The surrounding area is amazing with plenty to do. Can’t wait to come back.

The Hub- friendly staff and fantastic homemade lunches and cakes.

We stayed in a hut over the weekend. The owners had prepared it for our needs, including a travel cot, and have been very helpful throughout (check out their website for activities and ideas). Not for everyone, but highly recommended if you fancy an intimate, cosy and unusual accommodation.

Stayed here for a couple of nights last week and was impressed.

Huts sleep 4 (or perhaps 5) and incorporate running water (cold) and a gas hob, you can also cook outside using a fire pit. Hut is properly insulated, fitted with double glazed windows and has a log burner for cold evenings though we stayed in height of summer so cannot vouch for how this works out.

No electricity in the huts so great opportunity to detox from iPads / mobiles etc however solar powered lighting ensures you are not literally kept in the dark.

Toilet / shower block has plentiful hot & cold water, toilet is chemical rather than plumbed so have docked 1 star for that, perhaps unfairly.

Farm / camp shop on site called 'The Hub' which sells supplies or you can eat there if that takes your fancy. Had coffee, cakes and breakfast and all served efficiently and to a good standard.

Adventure company also on site offering stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking in adjacent river. Life jackets supplied along with a guide (not instruction), 2hr session was good fun.

Views over to Bodiam Castle (well worth a visit) which is 10+ minute walk across the field.

Kent & East Sussex Railway is also 10+ minute walk away giving steam train access to nearest large village (Tenterden) though felt cost of family return ticket a bit too much.

Apparently there is a Michelin starred restaurant 10 mins drive away however we just ate burnt campsite food... need to build a fire pit at home and practice beforehand ;-)

If you fancy something more substantial that a tent but not a cottage, B&B or hotel then this is worth considering.

Had a wonderful weekend there - terrific site, area and so much to do - sadly only to be let down by the toilets. The stench was unbearable - really need to sort the chemicals out. Otherwise would have been 5 stars from me.
