We were doing a house move round the corner to Todmorden in W Yorkshire. Before heading back up north we stopped and had the burgers and one of us had the chilli dog. Cant rate highly enough, we will definitly be there again when in the area. Fantastic food, great atmosphere. Tim @thelittlebigremovalcompany

Since July last year we have been working hard to turn the pub around and with the help from our customers, we have managed to achieve this.

We have live music very Saturday night, show all live sports ,quiz nights every Sunday, happy hour deals, student discount and loyalty cards. Plus a great selection of real ales , craft beers,fine wines and premium spirits

Nicely refurbished, nice range of beers, cheaper than the Tuns. Chloe the new barmaid was very friendly and efficient, well done Shane and Robyn looking forward to popping in and having our next beer and Sauvignon with you :)

Love this pub! Great pool team and bar staff. You do the best burgers in town!!! Good to see Hennessy being served

I've been working in the area for the past 2 months. The Palmer Tavern is a proper boozer with tidy staff and friendly locals. Defo recommend if you're in the area.

Great Saturday evening entertainment by Deeper Purple tribute band. The pub is clean with fresh decor and good atmosphere too.

Excellent atmosphere, chilled decor, big garden, loads of parking and great music nights. Friendly staff who are willing to help. Much improved from previous crowd. Sports shown on Telly's. Great to see food offering. Burgers are tasty but hot dogs are my favourite.

A warm and friendly feel washes over you when you walk in this venue. Great selection of beverages and the food compliments the venue nicely. Alhough there isn't a full menu, all the right food is provided at an extremely reasonable price and my word, trust me, it's delicious !

A great friendly pub that puts on a great band every Saturday night! The music really is great and showcases Reading talent. Students should love this place with the discount available #readinguni

A fantastic Pub, with a great atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming bar staff. I'm working away from home, but we were made to feel very welcome by the lovely staff. The bar menu is perfect, with freshly made food and the most delicious chips I've ever tasted. Tonight's open Mic was the first apparently. it made for a great atmosphere. And I'm sure it can only get better. I'd have no problem recommending this place to both locals and those on the road!. (I'm often I'm the road)

Niceish refurb; no proper food! Has an Ale discount card but everytime we have visited there has only been one real ale on the pumps!



Won't go out of my way to visit.



Low on atmosphere when last in as only 2 others in the pub (6 pm Tuesday).

Beer was at best ok but got our son to pick us up in his car,so he came in , we bought him a coke and he got a £60 fine for parking @ 11:20 at night .the pub only had about 8 people in it, so be aware �

£160 Parking fine when I came to collect my partner

I was collecting my partner as she was having a drink with group of friends in the pub at the end of August. I'm currently being intimidated by the parking company that operates this car park. I only received a fine sent to my parents house that happened at the end of August now in October, but it is currently with Debt collection company at £160. I've no idea where the other notifications were sent to.

It was necessary for us to pay this fine at such a late stage to avoid court action. (reduced to £100 when complaining)

It seems smart parking go through straight to Debt recovery to frighten people, avoiding any attempt for someone to appeal the process.This is complete extortion.



The photos supplied by smart parking show my car in the pitch darkness with no lighting, impossible at the time see any signage. It was impossible at the time to see even the colour or make of the car, just the registration as indicated by smart parking.

There was no mention by staff at the time when ordering drinks about this arrangement.



This crazy unnecessary arrangement is a slap in the face to customers and will not make us return, unless we are accommodated. The string of complaints on this issue on this site shows its not an isolated issue but ongoing for a park firm to make a quick buck

Unfortunately I am giving this pub 1 star due to the parking fine I have received. The pub reassured me that as long as I could provide the parking fine company with sufficient proof that I was at the pub that day for a drink that they'd drop the charges. I supplied a bank statement clearly showing the money I spent at there pub. They are still insisting that I am to pay the fine?? I have since emailed the management of the pub to help with this but they have simply fobbed me off. I hope to get a reply from them soon! Very bad experience by all accounts.

Okay pub, but terrible parking arrangements and management company of the parking lot - beware.



Patrons are supposed to get free parking, but got a fine through the post, with parking operator unwilling to take any reasonable steps to resolve the situation - typical scam scheme with threats and letters from debt collectors.



Negative experience throughout - entirely based on that.
