About The Pandora Inn

A thatched 13th century inn on the edge of a Cornish river. . . magical pub, magical setting.

The Pandora Inn Description

When you visit the Pandora, it's easy to forget you're in the 21st century. Its spectacular setting on the edge of Restronguet Creek is timeless. Parts of the Inn date back to the 13th Century and, with its flagstone floors, low-beamed ceilings and thatched roof it's not difficult to believe that little has changed since that time.

While the Pandora's wonderful setting remains unchanged, everything else in this cosy traditional inn is 21st century comfort and quality.

Publicans John Milan and Steve Bellman have been at the helm of the Pandora since 1999. Their attention to detail in everything – from the food and service to the décor and furniture – has established the Pandora as an award-winning pub that aims to give you an enjoyable and memorable experience whenever you visit.

Chef John Poole uses the freshest, local, seasonal produce. There's an extensive wine list and traditional real ales from St Austell Brewery.

Combine this with a spectacular setting, roaring log fires and a warm welcome from your managers Catherine and Lester Croft and a trip to the Pandora is a must.

We’ve added another trophy to our collection at this year’s Cornwall Tourism Awards – retaining Gold in the ‘Tourism Pub of the Year’ category.
“While we were chatting at the awards ceremony, we were trying to remember exactly what our tally of tourism awards has been. We did a bit of research and came up with this rather fun pyramid of awards!” says Steve Bellman, who with John Milan has been running the Pandora inn since 1999. “We were surprised and rather proud by the num...ber – and this only covers success in the pub categories, we have others too.”
The team here at the Pandora Inn works incredibly hard to achieve such a high standard in food, drink and customer service. Managers Catherine and Lester Croft and Head Chef John Poole deserve much credit for not just ensuring we reach such high standards, but in maintaining them too. It is no mean feat.
As ever, we wouldn’t win all these awards without our loyal customers supporting us and giving us great reviews. The Pandora has a special place in a lot of people’s hearts and we are always extremely grateful for your support. #CTA18 #CornwallTA #swtourismawards #pandoraawards

WE’RE CELEBRATING GOLD! We are thrilled to have won Gold in the ‘Tourism Pub of the Year’ category at the Cornwall Tourism Awards! Steve Bellman, who with John Milan has been at the helm of the Pandora since 1999 said: “We are delighted to have retained our title and gold position as Cornwall’s Tourism Pub of the Year. I think this year we encountered the strongest competition to date – we were up against some really good businesses all of them in tourism hotspots – so t...his is an extra special win.” Our photo shows, left to right: Proprietors John Milan and Steve Bellman, Manager Catherine Croft, Head Chef John Poole and Manager Lester Croft accepting the award at last night’s award ceremony held in Truro Cathedral. Well done team Pandora! #CTAgold #awardwinners #pandorawins #CTA18 #CornwallTA #swtourismawards

KEEPING IT LOCAL Throughout the summer our planters and baskets have looked great – in fact, they're still looking good even now Autumn's here. Our lovely displays are provided by Westcountry Baskets who use top quality flowers that they grow from cuttings in their own polytunnels. They last all season long – even when they've had to endure extreme weather such as we've had this year! #keepingitlocal #westcountrybaskets #pandorainn

THANK YOU AGAIN!! Great news, delighted to see we are finalists in the 'Pub of the Year' category in the Cornwall Life Awards. Thanks to all of you who voted for us, fingers crossed for a win! #cornwalllife #bestpubaward #pandorainn

NOT SPLASHING OUT! We are always looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint and reduce waste, whether it’s through rigorous recycling, cutting down on single-use plastics or using low-energy light bulbs. We also work hard to keep water usage down and have waterless urinals at the Pandora. Annually, these can save over 150,000 litres of water per urinal… something to ponder the next time you visit the gents! #savewater #pandorainn

Whenever me and my family are on holiday in Cornwall we always try and come here for a visit. We came on Monday 7th May for a drink and some food. I had the cheese burger, my partner had the fish and chips and our 16 month old had the tagliatelle. The food is always amazing, the scenery is fab and the atmosphere is great!! Would highly recommend this place

We arrived just after 5pm and sat outside in the sunshine. There was a musician playing which was lovely and not over powering the beauty of the location.

We had two courses and two drinks each. The food is absolutely beautiful from presentation to taste we could not fault it.

Ended up having a stunning evening and so reasonably priced.

I struggled to want to leave and can’t wait to return. XX

Simply the best restaurant I’ve visited in Cornwall. Always try and sample a ‘special’! My parents live in Falmouth and this their local, and you couldn’t want for more in a gastro pub!

User

My favourite little hidden gem on the south coast! Great food, great atmosphere, great views. Very worth the 25% incline to get up and down! Must visit on every trip. 👍🏻

User

I have followed the pandora inn from my home in Wolverhampton for a few years and today I finally got my wish and visited. Well worth the wait. Absolutely beautiful pub and location is fantastic. I just wish we could have had longer here

User

Absolutely brilliant place. I live local so whenever I have people visiting the Pandora is always the first place I recommend.

The food has always been top quality and always served by friendly helpful staff.

Excellent well deserving of the five stars!

User

The setting is lovely but narrow lane to get down to and not much parking.

I had fish pie which was very tasty but the salad was mainly bunch of lettuce leaves with 2 pieces pepper and a slice cucumber.

User

The only reason this pub does well is because of the location and the views. The lunch I had was completely underwhelming, I had the liver and bacon with the Stilton mash from the specials menu, it was tasteless and if I had coked a meal at home like that I would have binned it and started again. The best thing to owner could do would be to sack the cook, I use that word because the person producing my meal was certainly NOT a chef.

User

We have been to the Pandora for a number of years now with no problems.....but wow what a disappointment today.....table booked for 3pm for Sunday lunch to be told they have stopped due to running out of food?, it's Sunday and we have booked for lunch!!!!, told by staff that they normally run out of food around this time and we should have been informed?. Decided to order of the menu and I would have to say it was nothing special. With poor service and an expensive bill it's very disheartening and we will think strongly before returning.
