We stayed at the hotel and held our wedding reception here this past weekend 😁 The setting is stunning, the decor in both the rooms and the bar area is beautiful and the food was, as always, lovely. But, without question, what really sets this place apart are the staff. Everyone from the build up to the evening before and throughout the day were amazing and really went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect.

Thank you again for a lovely stay and helping to make our day extra special 😁

We stayed over and the accommodation was immaculate and really comfortable with air con and bottles of chilled tap water ready in the fridge (good attention to detail.) beautiful location, beautiful view. Food was excellent and really prompt. Their own beer was not really to my taste- either too citrussy or else the best bitter was too like a stout. I would go back again as staff were friendly and attentive and yhe atmosphere was pleasant as well as the room being lovely. Prices were got, really, compared to what we’ve paid elsewhere recently for what turned out to be lower quality. Maybe if they think about their brews I could give that last star...

Well this was our second visit to the Peacock Inn but sadly will be our last! Our first experience was lovely, we had a friendly & knowledgeable bar man & fab food!

Tonight we have had to wait 45 minutes for a table then 1hr for food. I had cheese & onion pie which wasn’t very nice, the pie was tasteless with no filling just pastry & the chips were frozen chips, with hard carrots & mushy pies??? Why not ‘proper’ chips like previously?

How disappointing to wait that long then pay over the odds for a below standard meal! We were never asked if our meals were ok & even when we paid we were never asked how our experience had been as I think the staff knew we weren’t impressed (neither were others)! I find it hard to understand why there is such a wait as the table numbers never change, only a certain set number of people can be served at any one time so why the waiting? It’s clearly a case of not having enough chef’s or staff members to cope with demand. It also doesn’t help when you can’t prebook a table! Drinks are very expensive.

We have dined here twice. The first time we didn’t enjoy it but everyone has a bad day so decided to try again. The second time was unfortunately worse! We chose to eat here on a Sunday and arrived at 7:00pm and ordered at 7:30pm. My partner ordered a beef roast and I ordered the pork roll. We sat down to have our drinks and a waitress came over to say you had run out of Pork and Beef. This is understandable on a busy day but lack of communication from the kitchen to staff resulted in my partner then having to have a chicken roast and me a chicken ‘roll’. When our main courses arrived, the chicken ‘roll’ turned out to be two slices of dry bloomer with chicken and dry stuffing piled high, and a bowl of roast potatoes. However, the menu clearly stated that the ‘roll’ comes with fries. I asked the waitress to change them for fries as I don’t like roast potatoes. I asked was there a reason it came with roast potatoes? She said there was a mix up in the kitchen!! My partner roast came with veg that was sloppy, piled high as the kitchen were clearly getting rid of it but it looked very unappetising and his chicken was also dry!

I went to the bar for two glasses of wine and the staff were quite rude and discussing ‘if we hurry up we can close and get off home’! I was paying on card and the guy just held up the card machine for me to pay without telling the price. I paid and walked away from the bar!

You need to address some issues here. Yes we were probably the last few diners for the day and one of the last to order food but all customers should be treat the same way whether I am the first customer or the last. I also think the menu is very limited on a Sunday - not everyone wants a roast on a Sunday or a sandwich! I have heard other friends saying similar things. It is such a shame as the surroundings and views are beautiful! Unfortunately we won’t be going back and we will be telling others of our experience. Very disappointing.
