About The Pelvic Pain Clinic

The Pelvic Pain Clinic is a resource for patients and specialists alike. Here you will find current research and articles on CPPS and Prostatitis

The Pelvic Pain Clinic Description

The Pelvic Pain Clinic was set up by Karl Monahan, a pelvic pain therapist with 5 years of experience in the treatment of type 3 non-bacterial Prostatitis and CPPS. Having suffered with Chronic Pelvic Pain for many years he understands what many Urologists and Dr’s simply cannot. His empathetic approach focuses on modern pain management, self-care techniques and lifestyle adaptation. He believes all patients should be the driver in their recovery, that the therapist should merely be the facilitator and educator. Karl gives his patients the tools with which they can manage and reduce their own symptoms, he emphasises the importance of patients taking back control of their lives

Ask yourself – Do you want to be the driver or the passenger in your recovery?

#LePubScientifique with Sandy Hilton Come and join Sandy for a modern approach to the treatment of male and female pelvic pain
When pain persists and you’re the 9th Physio someone has seen, where do you start? Sometimes treatment has made people worse. This doesn’t have to be the end of the road, join us for a journey back to hope (with none of the hype of false promises or flashy fads). Sandy will present case examples from pelvic health (one male, one female) and promises that everyone in the audience will be comfortable hearing the words penis and vagina in relation to persistent pelvic pain!

Is there a cure for Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS) and Chronic Prostatitis (CP)? According to MedicineNet a cure is ‘to heal, to make well, to restore to good health’ and ‘a time without recurrence of a disease so that the risk of recurrence is small.’ https://www.thepelvicpainclinic.co.uk/cur e-for-chronic-pel…/

#PelvicPainAwarenessMonth Antibiotics for Prostatitis and CPPS. Why are they still being used at the level they are? In 1963 it was recognised that antibiotics may be little better than placebos in the treatment of Prostatitis! Yet, 55 years later they are still the go to treatment! https://www.thepelvicpainclinic.co.uk/ant ibiotics-chronic-…/

Pelvic Pain Awareness Month 2018 - There are multiple factors to each CPPS case. I adopt a BioPsychoSocial approach to cover these multiple factors . Dr. Susie Gronski, DPT, PRPC, WCS outlines some of the impact that stress can have on presenting CPPS cases below. Treat each patient as an individual, listen, gain a greater understanding around contributing factors in each patients lifestyle (including stress) and gently guide them to an increase in confidence, ability and robustness
