Great little Iranian restaurant. Good food, friendly owner and attentive staff. Couldn't fault a think. Zereshk polo is great for a main meal and the Saffron ice cream is a must try for dessert. They make it themselves!

Good food, there were 11 of us and we all got served at the same time. It does not have an alcohol license but you can bring your own (£3 corkage charge for a bottle of wine or 4 cans)

Enjoyed the food and service in a relaxing environment. We had stew of the day with rice called Fesenjan and kebab of the day with 3 mezes on the side. All delicious. Will be back for sure.

We happened across The Persian around 9.15 this evening; we weren't hopeful they would still be serving, particularly as they were empty at the time however the owner bustled out of the kitchen to assure us he was open and a waitress offered us any table we cared to take. We opted for the standard menu at £26 for two people (3 meze, flatbreads, 3 kebabs, rice) and added a green salad with feta and some dips. Drinks followed swiftly along with the meze (dolmes, falafel and roasted smoked aubergine) the portions were good and the flavours delicate yet punchy enough to excite the palate. Once our plates were taken away the main arrived and again the portions were more than adequate, and the owner came over to explain the use of sumac on the table to flavour the meat and rice. Afterwards the homemade desserts (albeit there are only these 2 on the menu) proved too tempting and we gave in to the Persian pistachio ice-cream and the baklava; all washed down with mango juice and sweet Persian tea. The owner then came and chatted with us about his past and it felt more like stepping into a family home and being asked to join a family dinner; the food was amazing and the place was relaxed, if a little dated but don't let the decor fool you; it's a little gem and well worth the visit.
