The Pet Groomers Description

We are NPTC City & Guilds qualified groomers. We can accommodate dogs of any size from tiny Chihuahuas to Italian mastiffs and beyond. We do not give prices over the phone as no two dogs of the same breed are actually the same. Each dog is treated as an individual. We also groom cats and rabbits, plus we have a horse clipping service. Come in and see us, check out our website and browse the pictures in our Facebook gallery.

We would really appreciate your feedback on our work. However, if you do have a negative comment to make, please call us before posting. We would like to take the opportunity to see if we can resolve your issue, learn from it and do better next time.

Eevee Moore - Golden Doodle How lovely this girlie was to groom?
It was her first visit to a groomers and we were very lucky to have the pleasure of giving her a Spa day.
... She played with the others, fell in love with a 16wk old Cocker Spaniel puppy and learnt so much about what it takes to be EVEN more beautiful than she already is.
These pictures are Before, During (after bath and dried) then After.

Our website and external advertising says, "...we will groom anything, all you have to do is ask."
There is no intension to be disparaging about this beautiful lady but we couldn't resist saying...
"We also groom Yetties"
... This one in Full coat before a trim. 🥰

Welcome to 2019.
We are sure you have missed us while we closed over the festive season! The good news is that we will be open again on Tuesday 8th January from 8:30am.
If you need to book in your pet please bear in mind that we only have one fully qualified groomer, at present, while one of our ladies is away having her first child. Spaces are, therefore, limited!
... We will do our very best to accommodated you, so please plan your pet's grooming needs as far in advice as possible to avoid disappointment.

Knotty or Matted pets. The Animal Welfare ACT 2006 - Five Welfare Needs.
Sadly we all too often we see pets that have not received the amount of care they should have had from their owners. This can often be due to unforeseen circumstances such as family illness, change in work commitments or lack of understanding your pets needs. But not always!
We will always do our very best to assist on the one off occasions which will be handled professionally by our staff.
... To be clear, there is a very specific "Need" that is listed amongst the Five Animal Welfare Needs within the Animal Welfare Act 2006. This states:
THE NEED TO BE PROTECTED FROM PAIN, SUFFERING, INJURY OR DISEASE
Not grooming your pet regularly could cause pain and distress. Knots get tighter and tighter causing pain, irritation and sometime infection. Leaving it to The Groomer is NOT good pet management! Just because you don't see the distress your pet may go through, when being dematted for the umpteenth time, does not mean it's OK.
Recently The Pet Groomers have made a firmer stand on this. Despite warnings on previous visits, dematting fees being applied and advice on how to manage their pets coat, some owners are not getting the hint.
We do not want to, and will not put, your pet through the discomfort, pain and distress of having knots brushed out every visit. Too much of this is likely to be a breach of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and we will not do it.
We have discussed the matter with our local RSPCA inspector. Following that conversation we have agreed to report our concerns to her team and we will refuse to groom your pet in the future.
Some of these pictures are extreme but some are not. We have seen this less extreme levels of matting on several times.

Play day at TPG. We love it when dogs come in for a groom and then have time to play. These two met for the first time today and little Winnie has certainly got the measure of Monty.

Nelly Drury - Jack Russell Cross Such an unusual little dog. She is over 14 years old and this time the owner asked us to put some Before and After pictures on our FB page. She is a striking little barrel of fluff, not least because she has such stunning eyes but then once you get the woolly coat off she has the most amazing markings. Here we have upload some BEFORE and DURING pictures then an AFTER picture.

Lulu Stack - Persian "pussycat" This little lady has been coming to us for years. Although her least favourite bit of her full groom is being brushed around her bottom, she absolutely loves the bath and blow dry. Here, her owner sent in pictures of her rolling about on the patio, just after her last groom. We thought this on was the best to upload. She is purring with contentment and according to the owner, seeming to say, "Just look at me. How beautiful am I?"
... Lulu had a bit of a difficult start in life but has fallen well and truly on her paws and in to the lap of her lovely owner.

We have been taking Snoopy to see Sue and her team for over three years. They make an effort to know everyone one of their clients and how best to handle them. Snoopy is always made to feel welcome and comes out looking very smart and trim and always happy. I would highly recommend Sue and her team to anyone looking for a pet groomer, fabulous people, fabulous service.

Took my nervous border collie 'Paddy' along to The Pet Groomers, spent at least one hour there. Staff made me feel very welcome and we're very helpful, advising me how best to groom your dog. Would highly recommend West Kingsdown Pet Grooming.

User

Thankyou so much for Humphrey and Coco's grooming today. I will try to get some pictures later as they have both walked in and flaked out in their beds. Obviously too much excitement for one day!

Our elderly Lab has been coming here for hydrotherapy to help his arthritis. He’s like a spring chicken when he realises it’s swimming day! Great bunch of ladies, very friendly and professional. Highly recommended. Particular thanks to Tracey who is his ‘swimming coach’ and has built up a wonderful rapport with him,

User

Oscar has just had his 2nd hydro lesson and he loves it even got into the pool on his own. The team are really friendly and happy to help . Now Oscar can't wait for his next swim .

Once again, my baby (a Portuguese Water Dog) came out looking happy, clean and handsome! Have been coming here with him for a few years now and will never be taking him anywhere else. They will always point out any problem areas I need to concentrate on when I groom him at home and it helps a lot, and prevents painful matts! I can relax knowing he is in good hands with all the friendly staff ☺️

User

My two dogs have left the Pet Groomers looking beautiful! Fantastic staff. My Schnauzer is very nervous and can be snappy but Sue took time to calm him to a point she could properly groom him - something a number of other groomers have not been able to do. Thank you.

User

My miniature schnauzer always looks fabulous when he comes out. He is always happy to go in, and the staff are always lovely. I have tried several other dog groomers in the area and these are by far the best.

User

My dog has been coming here for hydrotherapy with Sue for 2 months now and I would highly recommend.

Sue is fantastic and her manner with my dog is very gentle, friendly and loving - You can see she has a real natural love and affection to the dogs she treats.

From the first session my dog warmed to Sue straight away, and he is normally very dubious to strangers.

Highly recommend and we are glad that found someone who offers such a loving service!

My 9 month old Cavachon has had two sessions in the Hydrotherapy pool, he loves it! He was apprehensive at first but soon realised that water can be fun. His swimming instructor was soooo patient with him and it is thanks to her that he now has no fear of the wet stuff!

If I could give 10 stars I would!.....I have been taking my dog Lula to Sue at the groomers since she was a puppy and would not take her anywhere else. She is very good at what she does and always ready to help. My new puppy Eevee is quite hyper and I am grooming her regularly to get her used to being a long coat dog! Yesterday I decided I would clip her nails as it was quite a while since Sue had done them and how hard could it be?....unfortunately it is hard and I took off too much and made her bleed. I took her to the groomers and Sue could not have been more helpful or kinder. She put some 'magical' powder on her nail and bandaged her up like a pro! What a lovely lady you are Sue thank you thank you thank you!!!❤❤❤Eevee still has her little bandage on this morning and is running about without a care. Thank you Sue.

I'm not usually one for writing reviews but I honestly can't tell you how delighted I am with Sue and her wonderful team. I had never even heard of The Pet Groomers until I drove past a couple of weeks ago and decided to pop in as I was on the look out for a groomers who could hand strip our working cocker. Just from walking in the door you could tell it had a lovely vibe about it and they sounded as if they really knew what they were talking about and the dogs all seemed incredibly happy and were just all milling around together. I took a punt and I am so pleased I did. The results are incredible and Sue worked her magic in hand stripping our 'little yeti' I was honestly nearly speechless when I saw him. Not only that but they had had him all afternoon, taken him out for pit stops, took the time to tell me little things they had noticed about him, told me not to worry if I was running late ( how often do people say that!) and it sounded as if he had had a generally lovely afternoon. I would highly recommend them and have already booked our next appointment. Thankyou again Sue, we are incredibly happy with the results and just so glad I decided to pop in that day!

I have been taking Hettie to The Pet Groomers now for at least 4 years and it's great. Hettie is made a fuss of the moment she walks through the door and I know she is well looked after once I'm gone.

Hettie always comes out looking lovely and clean, her coat is shiny and she smells good enough to eat! I am always so pleased with her "haircut" and I would highly recommend The Pet Groomers to anyone.

User

I have been bringing my bunny (sweetie) to sue for about a year now, we found it hard to find a groomers that allow rabbits and sue is the really the best one there is. Sweetie often gets a messy behind and always comes back lovely. sweetie loves it there and finds it a really calming place, I would highly recommend the pet groomers for there knowledge of grooming and care.

User

I am very happy to have discovered Sue at the Pet Groomers. I have a Clumber Spaniel so 'very hairy' lol. He needs hand stripping and am very satisfied with the end results each time I pick him up. He can't wait to get in the door and becomes very excited. I guess from his reaction that he's spoilt rotten Sue? Many thanks everyone at Pet Groomers.

Had my black mini schnauzer Barney groomed on 23rd June. He's a pain in the bum, very very difficult and was about 2 months overdue (he came in looking like an old English sheepdog! !).....but you did such a fantastic job :-D

The cut you did was the best groom he has ever had. ... and that's an understatement! !!! His side feather bits actually do a Mexican wave in the wind it's lovely.

Thankyou soooo much for putting up with him... and I would thoroughly recommend your salon to anyone! !!

Thanks again ☆☆☆☆☆

User

Excellent service...I messed up my dates, they squeezed me in. My dog needed paws shaving quickly so I could check them..fit me in again. And he comes home looking so adorable in his puppy cut it makes us giggle.

Can’t thank you enough. My Bella came for several hydrotherapy sessions in preparation for a total hip replacement. The hydrotherapy allowed her to build up a huge amount of muscle prior to her op and crate rest. 6 weeks after her hip replacement she had to have another op on her knee as it was constantly dislocating which has delayed Bella returning to hydro to rebuild her fitness and help her adapt to a new knee and hip. Her recovery after both ops was very quick. The second she gets the all clear we will be back. She absolutely loved swimming and the care she received was second to none. Thank you x
