Anaerobic Fitness
Think about your sport- what fitness is needed?
Rugby for example is predominately an anaerobic sport. A players training should reflect this. Interval Training, Circuit Training ,, Sprints Training, Simulated Match Training- all of these stop/start methods will help develop Anaerobic Fitness.
... With a good foundation of Aerobic Fitness, you will recover more quickly from bouts of anaerobic exertion.

Here are some recipe ideas for breakfast which contain a decent amount of protein.
"Eat more protein" seems to be one of the hardest things for people to practically start. Its really easy for nutrition and health professionals to forget where most people are starting from.
You want to eat more protein because its filling, helps with appetite reduction and contributes to preservation of lean muscle mass during a calorie deficit. Muscle is good!
... Add protein to your breakfast (most breakfasts are devoid of a decent protein source) - swap out cereal and toast for something higher in protein, e.g. Greek Yogurt (my fav is Fage 0%, high protein and low fat, low sugar) - add egg whites to your scrambled egg - drink a protein shake - add whey to oats
Bare in mind when adding protein to your diet your are adding calories as well
Its highly likely you will adjust other calories down due to a reduction in apetite and because you simply feel fuller. Just something to be aware of
If you enjoy any of these recipes let us know in the comments

Great shot of Becca to start the day....
Hard Work = Achievement
#Repost @becca_mtb (@get_repost)... ・・・ After weeks of rain Wales treated us to a stunning weekend of sunshine, hero lenses and dust for round 3 of the @ukdownhillseries it also provided greasy rocks, muddy shoots and a torrential downpour for a rowdy finish. I managed 6th place after some close racing and was pleased to come away with my thumb attached this year 👍
Big thanks to @mijdownhill for another well organised round and @pearcecycles for the smooth uplift. 📸 @muddyshots

Shoulder Month
WAND FLEXION - SUPINE
Lying on your back and holding a wand or cane, slowly raise the wand towards overhead. Use your unaffected arm to assist with the movement.

Sprint Training
Sprint Training over a variety of distances will help develop sprinting speed, as will the regular performance of technique drills such as high knees, butt-kickers, hill sprints and using a drag parachute or sled.
Speed training should emphasise quality and not be confused with Interval Training. Long rest between efforts mean that your speed will be maximised.
... Fatigue slows you down and the last thing you need is to sprint slower.

When injury strikes...
So what happens when you are a Therapist and you can not use your hands?
So it has been a frustrating month as the gradual onset of wrist pain has put me out-of-action, both in the treatment room and gym.
... Fortunately, we have had a fantastic new Sports Massage Therapist join out team Dan Kerton (his profile will be up soon!!). Dan has seen several of my clients with great feedback.
So how do you feel when you can't train.... Guess what, we have the same feelings as our clients do- anger, frustration and many more.
Not being able to start the day with a good lifting session is frustrating as I am that sort of person that needs a fix. So I have taken not being able to lift as a positive and working on my mobility and movement control.
There is always a positive and something that you can work on and improve even when injured- just think outside of the box!!!

Nikki, like so many others in the clinic, started work in the fitness industry working as a fitness professional/personal trainer both in the U.K and in Dubai. She decided on a career change which built on her existing knowledge and went on to study Physiotherapy at Cardiff University. She qualified in 2008 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.
Since qualifying Nikki has worked within the NHS gaining a wide range of experience in the musculoskeletal field. She has also dev...eloped post graduate experience in acupuncture and dry needling which she uses to treat soft tissue problems.
Nikki is a keen believer in a preventive approach to treating her patients’ musculoskeletal problems and she has undertaken a postgraduate course in movement control which she uses extensively in her assessment and treatment.
Outside of work, Nikki is a keen crossfitter and knows first- hand the demands exercise places on the body. She regularly treats her fellow crossfitters and is keen to use her skills in injury prevention and keep people training for longer.
