The picture house is my local and preferred cinema. A recent trip to Cineworld brought home just what a treasure the picture house is and what amazing work Kevin & his team do to constantly make it better.

As for Cineworld........

Disinterested staff, filthy foyer & exorbitant prices and that was before the film even started. The screen relative to the size of the auditorium was small, a thin sound often with breakthrough from adjoining screenings in the quiet parts. They left a lot of the lights on during the main feature as well, all of which meant that it was nothing like the immersive experience you get at Uckfield picture house.

I am mindful this has turned into a tirade against Cineworld but if that’s all you know then I urge you to visit the picture house to see how a film should be shown.

User

Really great picture and sound, nice and clean with helpful staff

User

Love this cinema!

Friendly and local and not part of a big overpriced cinema chain!

The only place I’ll go to watch new movie releases!

User

I watched the streaming of Swan Lake live from Covent Garden in complete awe. The dancing costumes and sets were sublime. Streaming of live performances gives you front seats and so much more. I have loved every performance I have attended. Bravo

User

Have been going to this cinema for years, wouldn't go anywhere else. Comfy seats & plenty of leg room. Have dined in the restaurant a number of times too, excellent food & service, especially the 2 for 1 pizza deals Tuesday & Wednesdays, the pulled pork pizza is great.

User

Have been a few times now. Love the size and comfort. Not too hot or uncomfortable. Less pretentious than the Depot in Lewes.

User

Fantastic, we are so lucky to have a fab Cinema that shows all the latest films plus more and an excellent restaurant to go with it.

User

Fab food, atmosphere and service. What more could you ask for.

User

Excellent cinema, I drive from Tonbridge to use it. Once, the man behind me was on his tablet and the usher came and told him to turn it off even though it was only the trailers. Toilets are very clean and the staff are very friendly. Nice to be able to have a coffee with the film as well and they are open at 10.00 if you just fancy a take away drink.

User

A superb independent cinema with very friendly staff and offering a good range of the latest movies plus lots more besides and certainly well worth having a bite to eat at the restaurant over the road as well!!

User

We have been to this cinema for years, and decided to review today as we LOVE it there apart from ONE thing - the volume is toooooo loud! It just crosses that line between amazing surround sound and occasional volume that hurts your ears.

Otherwise, clean, comfortable, excellent service and a great experience. But please could the film volume be turned down just a notch or two?!

User

I've only been in screen 2 but it is very comfortable and intimate, a very nice cinema apart from one thing - the foyer does not work well as a logistical space. Petiole arrive and depart here, the toilets are accessed via the foyer and when I went last, there was also a children's party group trying to collect party bags! A bit overwhelming and very noisy. But the cinema experience is one of the best.

User

I went to see the awesome Rogue One on 17th December 2017. I don't know why I've not been to this little gem before. Always go to Eastbourne but not anymore!

The fact you can get a glass of giggles with ice cream and pop corn is pretty cool. And getting the restaurant in on the whole package is a great idea.

As soon as we eat at the restaurant we will complete the star rating.

User

Great cinema in many ways. Love the Saturday Mornings sessions but today’s showing was so loud several toddlers were in tears. Other just left. I heard at least one member of staff informed but the volume remained the same. As a showing geared towards young audience members it would be great if the volume was set appropriately.

User

Always liked this cinema and never had a problem before. Today, I asked for a booster for my small child to be told there were none left. To be fair to the young member of staff, she tried her best. When I spoke to the manager about it she shrugged her shoulders and couldn't have been less interested about the issue. I said that I have now paid for a seat that is not going to be used as he's going to have to sit on my lap. Again, shrugs and told me it's just 'a complimentary service' anyway. Her attitude was highly unprofessional in contrast to the rest of the staff. Maybe some training on customer service may be beneficial?

User

Wow... What a rude, unhelpful member of staff I have just encountered on my first trip to The Picture House. I was so disgusted by the attitude of the lady that served me that I left without staying for the film. Customer service skills go a long way, and there are none here that’s for sure.

User

We went today to watch sing

We have 7 kids in tow including 1 baby

My friend was asked to leave with her baby as management wasnt happy to have a baby in a movie where it was full of kids, she had to leave her other 3 children with myself why she was escorted off the premises (bare in mind she was helped in with the buggy at the time of entry)

The usher a great guy stood up to his manager and told her to sit back down. The baby was as good as gold.

It doesnt disclose in the t&cs its an issue and that you cant leave an under 14 un attended!! All 3 kids that where left where under 14!!

The management when question why was a complete twat and completely dismissed the issue!!

£70 we spent today at that cinema helping a local business when next time ill be spending the money at cineworld where its cheaper and babys are welcome!!

Really shocked by management!!

Emails sent!!
