On this day: Australia Day is the official National Day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales. You'd think that the PAS would have no links to Australia well..... SUR-501CA9 is an example of a token minted by the Royal Mint and issued by George III in 1797, these would have found their way to the colonies in the pockets of immigrants, or adventurers. They were absorbed into the economy due to the lack of coinage there at the time. Found in Guildford, Surrey. https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/r ecord/id/807799

Metal Detecting is a great hobby but let's make sure we do it responsibly.

User

Awesome job done by people with next to no resources. I just recently dropped off some more items to Katie Hinds can't wait to see them on the network

User

Always had good relationships with Norfolk PAS. Long wait sometimes for return of finds but well worth it as everything comes back well documented and after all Norfolk and Suffolk must be one of the busiest areas.

User

I still see that specific grid references for finds are shown with some records. This WILL lead to unscrupulous detector users raiding the fields of land owners whose trust we have gained through hard work and responsible recording. Please realise that we don't want records to show where we are finding these lovely coins and artefacts. Some of us have been detecting for many years and don't want to lose the fields we detect on.

User

I have been waiting 9 months for a valuation. I hardly ever receive an update with just 'thanks for your patience`.

I think more finds would be reported should the treasure process be expedited a bit.

User

Waste of time, they loose items and if they do get put through for treasure, you get bent over the desk and screwed hard by them

User

Not happy at all with this treasure process ,i handed over a gold ring to Cardiff museums Mark Ludwig as treasure trove getting on for three years now , and in 2015 a medieval silver coin for recording , Both these items ive had no correspondence back at all nothing !!! ive tried contacting Mark Ludwig on a few occasions and all i got was ,i will look into it !!! now he don`t even answer the phone !!! iv`e of lately been in touch with the British museum for them to look into this for me as they have had no info sent on this treasure case , and as of yet nothing only his supervisor will look into it and get right back to me ,that was seven days ago !!! i am lucky in a way that Peter Reavell has got a picture of the ring which he has passed on to the British museum . Ive just got settled up with another treasure trove i had , May this year , that one took 5 years from it been found in 2012 . What are they playing at !!! Has anyone got any ideas where i go from here ? newspapers ? or legal action ? where do i stand ?.
