We ate here on Saturday with my parents and brother and had truly excellent lunch. In a lovely peaceful location but still only a 5 minute walk from the train station and the centre of Oxford. Lovely decor, we ate in the 'Smoking Room'. Delicious food at reasonable prices (try the beer can Poussin, it was delicious!) and very friendly service, good portion sizes too. Highly recommended and set to become our go-to place to eat in Oxford. Going to try the steak next time, it looked delicious!

The best steak I've had for a long time. Service was great and very thorough.

I had the starter of bone marrow which was more than expected and very delicious, my wife had the potted shrimp which was equally tasty.

For mains we each had a sirloin steak which were cooked to perfection and seasoned great.

We shared 500ml of the burlesque Zinfandel which was a great pairing to the meal and just the right amount.

We both left very happy and full. I would definitely recommend this place to any steak lover.

Never ever eaten steak like it...amazing! I've always had mine well done but braved medium rare last night and it was to die for.

Me and my hubby recently stayed here for our anniversary staff was very welcoming nothing was too much trouble , room was exceptional just could do with bigger TV ha ha � love everything about the place modern/contemporary very well done with no expense spared. Unfortunately we didn't done here as we had another restaurant booked but would love to try steaks look amazing , we did have breakfast and it was exceptional you pay for quality here and you get it very happy would definitely stay again, oh and on a lovely peaceful Street not too far from centre 5min walk!! Wish this place lots of luck � ���

Lovely staff, and a USP that extends to the bar.. nice to see all non mainstream beers. The staff were great, fun and put up with our humour and requests which made it even better..

And they saved the day when they produced a safety pin after a wardrobe malfunction!

Had the Sunday roast previously and it was amazing! Had a steak meal last night and can safely say, after 40 odd years of eating out that was the best steak ever!!

Had a great meal last night! The bone marrow starter was superb and the steaks were perfect! Ended with several rounds of delicious desert wine. Brilliant service from the staff.

Fantastic stay over the weekend. Staff are really friendly and cannot do enough for you. Room was great with lots of nice touches. Had a meal last night in restaurant. Had the chateaubriand it was amazing. Great cocktails to. Really nice breakfast this morning before leaving. All cooked to order. Great stay and even better meal in restaurant last night!!!!

Absolutely incredible experience at The Porterhouse tonight, the food, service and staff were incredible! Thank you very much to Alice our waitress and Kyle front of house with his lovely cocktails! Will be back! Xx
