While cycling from great Torrington stopped of for lunch

Crab sandwich for me and cheese and ham for my wife in the sun nicely decorated pub friendly service no probs they looks busy car park nearby. Might pop back one evening

User

Stopped off at the quay for a roast dinner today.... it was excellent, one of the tastiest roast dinners I've had around this area. Lovely friendly staff, and a refreshing pint, all while looking out over the river on a sunny day. Will be back there for sure.

User

Stopped in yesterday after getting soaked on our run along the Tarka Trail. Had a swift drink & the most amazing white chocolate & passionfruit posset (for energy), was so good I asked them to save it so I could finish later. Food & atmosphere was so good I bought the parents over for Sunday roast today & it was just as good. Great pub, great food, lovely people & they don't mind you making the chairs wet!

User

Popped in by chance for lunch and had delicious crab sandwiches, with salad and home-made veggie crisps, delicious!. Friendly service at the bar with good selection of beers etc.

User

Lovely food and good beers 😀

Following our Wedding Blessing at Instow Church we had our reception at The Quay. The Landlords, Steve and Maggie were excellent throughout. When we were choosing the menu options nothing was too much trouble and they easily accommodated our guests tastes and dietary requirements. The room upstairs with views overlooking tthe river was a fantastic space to host our guests. We were able to decorate the room and tables to our taste with the help of Steve and Maggie. The service was great on the day and everyone commented on how nice the food was. Guests stayed on in the evening and gavited to the friendly bar downstairs. So if you are looking for a great venue in a great location then look no further!

User

Finally a pub that feels welcoming and relaxed... no music... no loud brash people... just people enjoying each other's company and having a drink... children are welcome and dogs are welcome too... I wish all pubs were like this... the intimate atmosphere makes it even more special... you've always got to make a bee-line for The Quay and relax and enjoy the experience... 5

User

Fantastic family and dog friendly pub! The food was exceptional (my partner And I had A Sunday roast) we regularly come here and eat as we can bring our puppy Rex after a long walk on the beach! Would recommend it to anyone.

User

Excellent food

User

Do your taste buds a favour....Red mullet fillets on a bed of chicory, onion and chorizo in balsamic. Absolutely delicious.

User

Called in halfway through a wet and windy run along the Tarka Trail for a 'pit stop' Dripping all over their floor, quick drink for both and pudding for Anjie, she couldn't finish it, so they put it in the fridge while we ran back to Bideford, got the car and drove back for a drink Anjies second half of pudding and i had a whole one (sugar fix) Don't be put off by the size of the pub as you walk in or if the tables all look full, there is more eating space and tables upstairs. Great pub, friendly staff where nothing was too much. Food plentiful and delicious, so much so we went back with Anjies parents for Sunday Roast and shared puddings. Highly recomend this pub, everyone including dogs welcome.

User

A party of 11 Americans, 1 Italian and 1 Estonian unexpectedly came here for dinner last weekend after a long, late drive from London. Steve was extremely cool under fire and not only provided excellent service, but excellent food and drink. We were so impressed with this place, we decided to keep our reservation for 2 days later and eat here again. And once again, Steve did not disappoint. Thank you for your hospitality and wonderful service. I highly recommend The Quay Inn - Instow for some excellent food, drink and personal service. And long live Scrumpy!

User

Probably one of the nicest breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. All locally sourced produce , top quality . Well done

User

Nice little pub friendly staff and a few locals in which gave it a bit of character. Had a pint of a think was called golden pig which was very good. Few people waiting for takeaway fish and chips which seemed popular

User

The food was average. Sandwiches came out and we had to ask for the fries after 5 minutes and sadly the 2 men working there lacked customer service skills. Such a shame because it’s a gorgeous location.

User

Really nice pub and location .staff friendly and polite .why only 3 stars ,they served a tomato based ratatouille with a roast beef dinner so wrong on so many levels.

User

Nice location. Food ok. Would eat there again. Think staff need some more customer service training.

User

Called in today for a drink and food as we always do every time we come to Instow which is quite often, well we were not impressed by the service had to wait ages to be served, ok they did oblige by doing us a meal which was only on the children's menu, as the meals on the main menu were well overpriced and not enough variety. When the meal arrived well the plates were cold, chips has died and the eggs were cold. When lady came to to collect plates which still had quite a bit of food left on them. She asked if all ok we said no plates were cold, chips tasted awful we couldn't eat anymore. She said oh everyone loves our chips they are cooked three times ugh. I nearly said u sure not nine times.

Defo not returning
