The Queens

I live in Windermere, the bar is dated, service is lack lustre, the food is what you'd get in a pub 20 years ago. A typical example of a business that won't change, modernise or invest, because there's an endless supply of tourist mugs who don't know any better. Thankfully windermere is changing and places like this will have to pick their game up or die.

Absolutely shocking disinterested staff in the bar to the point they walked off half way through serving us when asked if.there was room in the restaurant we got shrugged shoulders and the reply was should be
ordered chilli absolutely dry no sauce to the point we asked for a jar of hot sauce to try and add some sort of flavour and to make it less dry.
It came.with pila rice......... and the sausage and mash was the worse rubbish I have ever suffered micro wave mash and veg the cheapest Bisto granules ever tasted was actually that bad we stayed in the next evening and cooked on our weekend away

Very reasonably priced. Excellent burgers. Would eat here again.

Popped in for a pint while staying the night around the corner at the Lakes lodge.
Fancied a lager for a change as it was such a balmy evening so ordered a pint of Morretti.
Barman took a nice clean well chilled glass from the fridge and it was superb.
Nice outside seating area.

We had burger and dessert here. The taste is okey, but we are surprised by the 20 percent service charge. I do not like the cheese cake at all. It is far to sweet. The baker probably never taste how the cake is like when he/she is busy dumping sugar.

Friendly atmosphere and staff, the steak meals were superb. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Spending a couple days in Windermere and I came in to ask if the game was on (Newcastle v Preston). Dude looked at me as if I was alien. Finally he said they were. Came back after some food nearby and ordered a couple pints. Tried to pay by card but the way he told me that it was £10 or more was terrible. He general demeanour was poor. Maybe the barman woke up the wrong side of bed or he hates doing work. Finished our drinks and headed off to somewhere were they understand customer service or even the basics like smiling, being polite or happy. If you don't want a job dealing with customers then maybe working behind a bar isn't the best option for you.

S**t. The staff was awful, zero customer service skills. Appeared disgusted we offered to pay by card. I asked where the restroom was and he also seemed offended I wasn't aware where that was situated. Never will we ever spend a penny here again. Get it?
