The Quiet View

About The Quiet View

A donations-funded Quiet Garden that welcomes individuals and groups seeking spiritual refreshment

The Quiet View Description

A Centre for Contemplative Spirituality, the Quiet View is rooted in Christianity but welcomes people of all faiths or none. In an area of outstanding natural beauty, the garden is approximately 2 acres in east Kent, surrounded by rolling countryside.
It has been designed to provide secluded quiet ‘rooms’ for stillness and reflection and people in need of spiritual refreshment are invited to book a retreat individually or as a group. There is a variety of indoor spaces too, including a large yurt that boasts a log-burning stove that provides warmth and cosiness on cold or wet days.
Book a space to follow your own programme or join in our Programme of Events.

Almost totally shot in silence, the viewer “is invited to watch the film as part of a meditative experience where the film becomes the monastery rather than depicting one.” Sunday 29th January 2.30 – 6pm. Come at dawn on Easter Sunday (6am) to light the first fire of Easter - you'd be very welcome! We sing songs, and hear the story. Say prayers and light the fire in the garden. And then breakfast in the yurt. Scrummy. Please let us know if you can come and have a very happy Easter.

A sad, dying ash tree being felled by Tim Hopthrow this morning. But a Buddha will rest on the stump and the trunk turned into a bench for contemplation in the new Buddha garden room we are creating. Come and try it soon. You will be very welcome.

Thankyou so much for a truly inspirational and enlightening and I must say a just a magical day!I visited with no preconceived vision of the Quiet View other than it was the venue for the One Day Silent Retreat by the Janki Foundation led by Dr Julia Ronder and wonderful Revd Lizzie & John Hopthrow who so welcomingly invited us into their beautiful home and hearts.

The Quiet View is breathtaking I am somewhat pleased that I was able to enjoy the peace, tranquility and silence to totally immerse in the magic that unfolded for me throughout the day. Without knowing or reading about the Quiet View until after I had participated in the day walking the Labyrinth twice and fully taken in by the power of the walk and stopping in the centre the pull of the View just overwhelmed me with its beauty.

The Yert with the candles, fairy lights, log burner and comfortable seating and large cushions meant that their was opportunity to sit on chairs or the floor and even lay down. I was Immediately drawn to the Crown of the Yert and felt calm, peaceful and still, relaxed in mind and body this has stayed with me since! Thankyou so much for the inspiration that I wanted and gained from the day! I will definitely come back! I would highly recommend the opportunity to participate in the workshops, groups or visit on your own. Thankyou again
