Our opening times over the Easter weekend are Friday 5pm til 10pm Saturday 5pm til 10pm Sunday midday til 8.30 Monday 3pm til 9
... Instead of Easter eggs come join us here at the rake for some tapas. Outside dining is available but it is first come first served on tables outside but you can book for inside the restaurant.

We are looking for a house keeper full time 2 to 4 hours a day, Experience needed. Duties to include cleaning of the 5 beautiful rooms we have aswell as the restaurant. The role isn't set days but a Friday, Saturday and Sunday is essential due to the high number of guests we have over those days. If you are interested please message us with your cv.

absolutely love this place. just returned home from a child free night away here. made a last minute booking last night and managed to get a room to stay over. room 3 was perfect for us, food and drinks were gorgeous and especially loved the sangria! very good quality mattress made for a perfects night sleep before a massive full english. nothing too much trouble. nice chat with owners. will defo be back, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Some of the most delicious food I’ve ever had. Accommodations are beautifully finished and very comfortable. Dawn and Mark are lovely hosts!

My wife and I stayed at The Rake for one night and enjoyed a really nice meal too. The room was incredible and the service perfect! Great hosts too!

It's our 2nd time here but our first in room 1. If you want a real treat definitely book this room. It has a log burner, a whirlpool bath & hot tub outside. The owners are lovely people and the food is amazing. We love everything about the place & it is situated in a lovely little place surrounded by gorgeous scenery. Blackstone Edge which was part of the Tour de France route is on the doorstep & is a lovely walk for those of you who appreciate fantastic views. We will definitely be back again.

Had a wonderful evening yesterday. The staff were excellent from the second we arrived and throughout the night. Attentive without being OTT. As usual we ordered too much but wanted tastes of different parts of the menu. We ordered 3 off the specials board. Black pudding served on bruschetta with soft onions... wonderful. Sea bass fillets with king prawns and spicy fries - awesome, the fish perfectly cooked and the king prawns so sweet. We also ordered patatas bravas, bread and olives, and the camembert baked with garlic and herbs... on reflection too much. I wanted a salad too and the waiter made me a greek salad without cheese and it was just perfect, He placed all of the food we couldn't manage to eat into cartons in a doggy bag for us to bring home - so that's lunch sorted for today! Thank you all again for such a wonderful evening. We will definitely be back again.

Great food and service, we have visited on 4 occasions and have never been disappointed. Yesterday we took my brother and sister in law and they both loved it. Great to have a fab establishment within a few mile of home. Keep up the amazing work 😃👍

Such a lovely old pub/restaurant. The tapas on the whole was good except for the squid. Think it had been cooked for a few hours it was that rubbery. Didn't think the prices where extortionate but the service wasn't up to much and they aren't particularly busy. My partner had to go and hunt staff out a couple of times. Don't know if the older guy with dark hair is the owner or manager but seems very forgetful. Asked him for a couple of things during the night which never arrived. When told the waitress just an eye roll as though it was a common occurrence. Will go back to try some of the other dishes.

1st time here, brought my partner for birthday treat. Staff really friendly, explained the ordering procedures. Food was excellent, you don't need to order a lot, because the servings are quite ample.

Went just before Christmas. The food was great but we were in seated and out again in just over a hour. £75 bill with only 1 drink each. I felt very rushed and thought the price we paid would normally have been a night out not just an hour. Very upset as it was our Christmas date night. Don't think we will go back �

It cost us a fortune for food and drinks, I did enjoy the tapas food to be fair, but they brought it all out straight away and there wasn't enough room on our table, it would of been a lot better if they could of brought our food out gradually.....

Felt like we were rushed

Reduce extortionate prices for simple dishes and do t rush you and then I might consider going back!!

But if we all go and pay these silly prices only once, they will keep going x

Food is amazing unfortunately the service we experienced wasn’t great. The girl trying to seat us was very rude! Mix up with our table but they sorted it in the end 😬

Food is always fab here! However, service was horrendous. We booked at 6.30 and were told we needed to be out by 8.15 (fair) drinks taken straight away, food order done there were only 2 of us. We ordered bread (which you generally use for sauce dipping in other dishes) we got our bread. Another 2 tables arrived in our room who arrived after us, they got their calimari and steak etc....whilst we were still sat trying not to pick at this bread for 15 minuets, we ate it as we were that hungry and sick of waiting (i understand tapas doesn’t all come our at the same time but this was ridiculous) and had to order more!! i tried to speak to the girl whilst i ordered another drink to which she replied “ok” and walked off then came back with an incorrect drink. Easily done as it was gin but with canada dry not tonic.

Our food gradually started to follow which i must say the food is beautiful even if we did have a wait. I felt like our table was very neglected last night as i was stashed between 2 walls (good job I’m not a big girl or i would’ve had no chance as the table next to me had to squeeze in for me to even get out the gap between the table and his chair!) and the room was full of bigger tables which seemed to be waited on hand and foot! I kept trying to get the waiters attention so we could have our food wrapped up to take home, it took waiter about half an hour to notice us and come over after i had piled all the remaining empty plates up. I asked for bill and card machine as we had to be out by 8.15, he walked in the room with the card machine in his hand and continued to mess about with an empty table when another waitress was already sorting it for about 5 minuets. By this time the table who arrived after us had already gone and new people sat down, the guy on that table was also trying to get somebody’s attention to give his food ticket in and didn’t look impressed either as the waiter kept saying “one minuet one minuet”

All i wanted to do was pay our £67 bill I NEEDED THE CARD MACHINE i tried to tell him i was unhappy with the service and i got a reply of “yes ok”....... i gave up trying to explain as i then left.

Even if you do have a table of 2 you still need to make sure they are okay (word of mouth for more custom) nobody asked this during anytime or again i would’ve tried to explain how i felt.

I normally LOVE the rake but i haven’t been in a while and i was very disappointed with the service last night, definitely something that needs looking at. Its a shame as it was a busy night and i do normally go during the week.

I do look forward to going again but it wont be on a weekend.
