Great location, friendly staff, normal prices, a bit dated but it's probably part of the charm as the village it is in is wonderful.
Somehow this is a 2 star hotel. For just £100 a night last minute booking fee, I was able to get the best rooms in the house. This allowed me to get to the hotel, have a (c)lovely room right on the beach. It was a fantastic experience, being able to wake up, have a nice breakfast and walk out onto the beach. All in all, a nice retreat to somewhere that hasn't changed in a few centuries. Perfect.
Great location, nasty food. Flies everywhere.
Had the fish ploughmans expecting something half decent. Ended up with sloppy crab, frozen prawns, packet smoked mackerel and half a frozen baguette. All for £12.50.
You have such a great place it deserves better.
Nice comfortable place,clean and tidy.Brilliant position with a very relaxing sleep.Would have given a 3.5 if possible.Staff helpful and friendly.We only stayed one night but would have been happy to stay longer.We recommend this place for those fairly steady on their feet.The killer hill to get to the hotel needn't be an issue with parking available and a free shuttle up and down for those without a car but the hotel is right on an old harbour wall. Authentically uneven footing for the unsteady but beautiful for it.Minor criticism? Bar could be better,seems to be overlooked.

Such a big disappointment. Poor service and the most basic of food, served without a smile. 😕 Clovelly is a very pretty village and the harbour is extremely picturesque, so the customer's keep coming despite the low quality. This was my experience on New Years day lunchtime, maybe it was an 'off day'.
Absolutely amazing! Room is stunning. (Wirth the delux room) staff are adorable and really helpful. The NYE event is gentle fun with great food! You can feel the effort they all put it!
