The Red Lion, Long Compton

About The Red Lion, Long Compton

Welcome to The Red Lion - a country inn with rooms where real ales, fine wines, superb food and a warm welcome await you. . .

The Red Lion, Long Compton Description

Originally built as a coaching inn in 1748, this Grade II listed free house is located in the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With tales of witches in the village and a nearby prehistoric stone circle (the Roll Right Stones), there is as much of interest to the historian as there is the tourist.

Eat in the bar with its settles and inglenook fireplace, or the adjoining restaurant area, choosing from the seasonal menu or daily specials blackboard. Options range from a sandwich of crayfish, rocket and lemon mayonnaise on ciabatta to rack of lamb with crushed black olive and herb crust, grilled aubergine and provencale sauce. Other favourites include cod and chips served on the Red Lion ‘Times’ Newspaper, and a steak and Hook Norton pie, washed down with real ale or your choice from a carefully selected wine list.

The delightful individually styled five en suite bedrooms have Egyptian cotton bed linen, luxury toiletries and fluffy towels, tea and coffee making facilities, flat screen televisions and hairdryers.
