You really have to visit The Red Shoot Inn & Brewery if you are in the area. We were staying about 15 minutes down the road in a Pub B&B and even their staff recommended this place. I was initially put off as when you do a search as up pops a camp site and due to hideous childhood holidays, this rather put me off, but don't let it. The Campsite sits just behind the Pub and after poking my nose into said campsite (to try to get rid of my phobia :) ) I can honestly say I would happily stay there as it was small and very well kept, but back to Red Shoot. The food was fantastic and not your usual run of the mill pub grub. I won't bore you with what we had as I am sure you will look at their menu yourselves, but I can assure you they have a great chef there. What even topped the food was the service. Absolutely charming, friendly and professional throughout. We made 3 visits in our three day break, so that gives you some idea of what I am talking about. I fully intend to visit The Red Shoot again soon as I am an event planner and would love to get these guys the publicity they deserve. Thank you all for looking after Jill and I and of course our Siberian Husky Balou.

We stopped the Sunday before on the way back from a walk for a drink. The food looked so good, we went back the following Sunday for lunch after a walk. We had not booked a table but there was one available. Able to take the dog in which is a bonus. Helpful and lovley staff. Yummie roast beef.

We will be back.

Warm friendly pub. Enjoyed a lovely lunch. I heartly recommend a pint or two of their Ale, Muddy Boots

Thank you for a lovely lunch and wonderful service today... especially from the manager Paul. It was great to make a return visit and great to try a new cider!

Lovely meal tonight for my birthday with my family & dog. Friendly & helpful staff. The chef even made me a vegan burger (not on the menu). I don’t usually feel like leaving a review but feel they really went out of their way tonight. Many thanks to The Red Shoot

Haven’t been for a while even though it’s local. Glad I did. Lovely meal and friendly staff. 😀

Have seen this place every year for the last three years but never had the opportunity to visit. On our way home tonight we took a chance 3 adults and 3 children. Starters were prawn cocktail, pate and cheesy garlic bread. All arrived hot and nicely presented. Main course we had chilli and fish and chips and scampi. Again all presented nicely and tasted lovely.

The tables were cleaned for us when we sat down. All in all very worth while the visit and reasonable charges.

Had Christmas Day lunch here yesterday with family and it was lovely. Tables nicely spaced out, no rush in between courses and food was hit. The staff were very nice and polite, first Christmas lunch out and would definitely do it again. Well done to all the staff

Great place to cycle over to for a beer. Lovely surroundings and great beer and big enough to cater for a lot of visitors so it doesn't feel too crammed even on a glorious sunny day. The fact that it has its own microbrewery is brilliant and their beer is excellent. The roads across the New Forest heaths to get to it are a joy to cycle.

Excellent evening, great service and good food - my favourite watering hole

A lovely traditional pub. We were surprised food not cooked all day but had cracking ploughman's. Not the cheapest but exceptional quality ingredients and good portion sizes so worth the money. Friendly service and clean facilities. Consistently good every time we come. Added bonus is that it's dog friendly so ideal for s visit after taking your dog out for a walk in the stunning New Forest. Highly recommend.

Great pub in the New Forest. I've absolutely no idea how to get there by road because I found it by accident whilst on a walk. Good selection of hand pump beers and a good menu which I was told changes regularly. Staff were very friendly. I will try it again if I can find it.

This was our 3rd visits to red shoots over the past 2 years knowing from previous experience gorgeous location, lovely food and great customer service...unfortunately our visit on Friday for a family meal ended with me still hungry. Starters were fine, starter of nachos a little greasy, but OK... husbands burger was fine-however the chicken kebab was so over cooked, or warmed up,or left under the hot plate, it was too tough and chewy to eat. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she just replied 'that's a shame'. Not one to complain, we quickly left to have food elsewhere. The only reason it's a 3 is because burger was ok,Shame, but I will go back again for drinks only

Food was lovely and the service was great, it was just a shame that they've got rid of the kids play room, no play area and not even the old rope swing at the front. This place used to be renowned as a great family pub but seems not anymore.

They do book fantastic bands though! (PV) We'll go back, but only if we can get a babysitter!

Wow I am sorry to say that the Red shoot isn't what it used to be, I went there today with some friends after walking the dogs, The place was half empty on a Saturday...I have never known it so quiet inside. So we had drinks then decided to order food, Me I had the Chicken liver pate starter with the Spicy Beef chilli, Whilst two others had burgers and chips and one had the Prawn Marie Rose. Now I have eaten in this pub for years maybe only 2/3 times a year but this is the first time since the change of owners. The starter whilst tasty was just a tad on the small side with silly little bits of crusty bread stuff, Whilst the Spicey Beef chilli was anything but spicy with lumpy stuck together rice. The others weren't impressed with their food either. The other thing I would like to mention is..... We asked for a water bowl and was told there was plenty around the pub. We didn't see one and when asked the staff didn't seem overly bothered either about giving us one. I have never ever had that kind of non-fussed attitude from members of staff who would always get extra bowls and this is was a great dog-friendly pub. Bearing in mind we were a party of 4 with 8 dogs between us. We all ate and bought 2 rounds of drinks as well. Perhaps you were having an off day but the food and service were not what I was expecting. Only one choice of steak too, No mixed grill etc. Specials weren't that special either. Somebody needs to look at the menu and go back to what they used to serve.

It breaks my heart to say this but after our annual christmas gathering there yesterday which we have been doing as a family since the 90s i must agree with the last few bad reviews the food was awful i had a wildboar burger and fries and honestly it was to dried up buns and luke warm tasted like processed cheap bean burger two bits of lettece straight from the bag not even cut and one slice of tomato :-( very bland indeed and my wifes chicken kebabs where even more boring however the pizza was good but garlic bread that cheap horrible sprayed packet frozen crap you get in supermarket it was good to see he place was busy but the staff were all different and def seemed stressed and grumpy def not cheary as they were in the past and infact we stayed there in the summer camping and it was completey better so no idea whats going on i just pray pray pray it goes back to the old ways of past

User

i would like to know how hard it is to serve up sausage and mash? i got sausages that were over cooked and looked like yesterdays re heated, rubbery and horrible, the onion gravy had no onion, the portion was very small and over £10, i would not go again.

User

Not good! I had very bad food poisoning from the fish & chips! Messaged them a while ago about it but no reply!

User

I have regularly eaten here in past and it has always been great however this occasion it was not good. I had the Macaroni cheese it was taste less, tiny(for£10.50) and just horrid! Also the lady who I complained too didn’t even apologise , bad customer service!
