About The Rising Sun
The only village country pub in the beautiful village of Hurley. The River Thames is a 4min walk down the High Street.
The Rising Sun Description
Clean, warm, cosy, friendly, relaxing , set in the beautiful old village of Hurley. The village dates back to 700 ad and is recorded in the Domesday, the old church is still standing which was once the nave to the old Priory until 1536 when Henry Vlll dissolved the Monasteries.
The River Thames is just 4 min walk from the Rising Sun. Built around 1830 the pub is a big favorite with walkers, ramblers, boating people alike. There is a fantastic caravan and camping site just down the road, which is among the top 5 sites in the UK for static, mobile and camping.
We have a village shop, a church and a small B& B. The village is heaving in the summer months with tourists enjoying the camping and picnic areas right on the River Thames. Soft comfortable chairs and settees, log fire for the cold winter months. Home cooked and prepared traditional pub food plus specials, 4 ever changing real ales from local brewer's and a selection of lagers.

Yummy food, friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. A proper village pub. Good variety on the menu too.
Welcoming and friendly pub serving good food
Visited last night, October half term and the pub was beautifully done Halloween style. Food was excellent and so was the cider and ale. Cheerful staff too. Had 10% discount (just show your gate fob) as was staying on Hurley touring park. Lovely little country pub
Such a welcoming pub , good food great beer and wonderful staff . We love it
Such a friendly pub , excellent staff , such good food , and a great friendly atmosphere , would recommend this pub , always would go back again
Popped in for a couple of pints during the Hurley Classic kayaking event weekend. Ended up having a cocktail and shot masterclass from the new landlord! He makes an espresso martini Dick Bradsell would have been proud of! See you next year...
Only popped in for a cold pint on a very humid evening.
Clean and tidy pub, great outdoor space with loads of seating.
Young chap who served us was polite and happy and greeted us with a smile when we arrived :)

Fantastic food, lovely beer garden great bar staff what more could you ask for. Will definitely eat there again. Set in a beautiful village with some lovely walks 😁
Fabulous welcome, cocktails on offer when we went at £4 each and I even got one that wasnt included in the menu which was excellent 🍸👍food was delicious, so fresh and all home cooked. It was quiz night when we went and the host was Steve Ryder so that was a treat and great fun. Very recommendable, lovely hosts who were extremely hospitable to the point you felt like you were the only diners there! Will be there again very soon x
Excellent lunch out on Fathers Day in excellent company of Amelia Oliver Charlotte and Nick and of course Maureen my lovely wife who organised it all
Brilliant hosts .. always made welcomed... kids too
Place was great but food wasnit good I think it was cooked from frozen ,bread & butter pudding was terrible so dry and small portion expensive for what we had
The food was nice but the service was very poor i received my food after 30 mins but my partner got hers almost an 30 mins after mine which was on the same order and the the rest of my partners family ordered at the same time on the same table and didnt receive theres until an another 45 mins after my partner got her so feel the organisation with food orders is very poor and possible miss management in the pub its a shame as its a charming pub but need to figure out how to handle food orders when its busy i am not the only one annoyed yesterday about the service.
