What a phenomenal Launch Party! Thank you so much to all of our lovely guests, team, friends and family that made tonight amazing! We open our doors from 11am Saturday 26th and we are then officially reopened.

Guest Update:
Thank you for all of the supportive and positive feedback / comments over the last weeks while we have been transforming The Riverside into your new and improved local... it’s been an emotional journey for all involved but as we begin to add all of the finishing touches the hard work is really starting to look special. We’re in the final stages of team training and tasting all the delicious fresh food from the chefs and cocktails, classics and an array of contin...ental beers and wines that we’ll be offering and can’t wait to begin from 26th May!
There’s been the question of ‘Dogs’ since we began the journey and will they be allowed? The answer is now confirmed; absolutely!, well behaved dogs are welcome in our Bar (uncarpeted) area and externally in the Garden. All we kindly ask that they are always on their lead. We’ll be sure to look after them too with fresh cold water and doggy treats! Apologies we couldn’t make this decision sooner, we needed to understand accessibility and suitable floor finishes too.

Went for lunch today, 1st visit since it’s been refurbished & I wasn’t disappointed. Interior is lovely, conservatory was amazing (we were lucky enough to be seated in the conservatory with all the windows open), staff were nice & friendly & the food was great. I had a sticky duck salad followed by a mini crumble with coffee, presentation & taste were fantastic. Really couldn’t fault any of it. Will be returning Sunday for Father’s Day & already looking forward to it.

We were lucky to be offered the opportunity to try the food before the re-opening on 26th May. We were greeted by very friendly staff and seated in the terrace area which offers lovely views of the bridge and river and was light and cool and airy. We had two lovely waitresses, Rihanna and Grace. We ordered the scallops and duck parfait which were both lovely. Linguine and gammon to follow, again very good. Would love to have tried the desserts but had no room! Will definitely go again.

We went to the Riverside last night,really thought the place was great,such a good location for a decent restaurant and bar,I thought the menu was good with lots of lovely choices,both food and drinks,its hard to choose!

Food was good,service very good,lovely decor and views of the river we sat in the conservatory area overlooking the river.

Will definitely return and recommend to our family and friends!

We have just come back from dinner at the Riverside, our 3rd visit, my parents first. The restaurant has clearly worked hard to address feedback and criticism since their opening- some of it unfair, other comments reasonable.

Tonight though we saw a marked improvement and honestly couldn’t fault a thing. The food was delicious and the service was attentive. There was plenty of staff in evidence, all working hard and friendly too without being intrusive. One of the things we noticed on a previous visit was that several items on the menu had run out, no problem with that tonight so again they’ve clearly addressed feedback.

Don’t come here expecting a Harvester style restaurant (no disrespect, they are just totally different) but if you want great food in a stunning setting you will love this restaurant. Oh and finally a thank you to our fab waitress Rihanna ��

We had a lovely "ladies lunch" yesterday at the Riverside The four of us enjoyed our visit very much. Our waitress Grace was lovely as were all the staff we met. The pub is a really superb venue now with lovely decor, friendly atmosphere and wonderful food. Feeling very fortunate to have this as our "local" and have already booked to have a late lunch there with a friend next Friday. Looking forward another time to trying the Sunday Roast, the Hubby will be happy as "Doombar" is the draft Ale.

I cannot recommend highly enough!



Last night myself, my partner and my parents had a spontaneous meal out, and it was absolutely superb! For a Monday night, it was heaving, so that says it all!



The new menu is great and the food we ordered was excellent and so well presented, the setting was beautiful (we were lucky enough to get a table in the conservatory) and most importantly the staff were amazing. I have not had such good service in a long time. Holly and Freddie waited on our table and they were not only helpful, attentive and professional but they were hilarious! It’s so refreshing to have waiting staff with such personality, it really made our evening.



I think the refurb was the best thing that could have happened to this place and we will certainly become regulars now! I am delighted to have such a lovely place on my doorstep.

Have eaten here twice since the official launch and haven’t been disappointed. A beautiful location with a fantastic conservatory taking full advantage of the stunning view. An extensive menu offering the best meals I’ve had out in a very long time. Both times been served by Holly who’s been fab! Clearly some teething problems that can be expected from a new place that’s proved very popular. But I think once those problems are smoothed out then it will be hard to beat to this place for a great meal out �

Absolutely perfect. The staff, the food, the view, how they’ve refurbished the site. There is such a positive atmosphere amongst the staff and their determination to meet everybody’s needs is clearly an important aspect to the business. I can’t wait to come back. The lunch deal is a winner with a wide range of delicious dishes to suit everybody’s palette. The drinks I felt reasonably priced if anything, on par with competition. 2 for £10 on cocktails 12-7 Monday to Friday is awesome!!! Holly, our waitress, was so well informed about what food was/ wasn’t available so communication is very good between chef and staff. Thank you everyone. Keep up the good work. We had a lovely meal and our waitress was very attentive to our needs bearing in mind there were 8 of us. My only criticsm was that the Ladies toilet was really messy and was not an enjoyable experience. Every bin was overflowing and paper over floor. You also need some form if air freshener to take away the dankness. Apart from that a lovely experience and so pleased we went there.

I really really do want to give this a 5 * review but it's just not quite there for me.



The refurb is beautiful, I 100% appreciate the decor, soft furnishings and outside landscaping in this beautiful location - but the food just wasn't quite there for the price that it now is though. (Maybe I'd have felt differently if I'd ordered the scallops I'd been considering). The buttermilk battered chicken was good, but accompanying salad not much more than a bag of supermarket salad with some apple added in I don't think, so a bit of a let down unfortunately. And the kids' meals could do with a bit more.... something, I don't know what, but then the purpose of the review is to help you continually improve so we'll leave that to you ;) Will we come back? Maybe.

I had a free lunch at The Riverside yesterday as part of their test runs before opening. It is a million times nicer than the Harvester that was there before. I especially enjoyed a very refreshing grapefruit cocktail and a delicious fillet steak, very tasty . For dessert I chose the option of coffee and a mini dessert (crumble), which was pretty substantial. Service was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere generally very pleasant. Thanks for the meal! Will certainly visit again!

As local been coming here years, always said what a waste it was as a harvester with awful food, so nice to see the revamp, was very excited waiting to try it out, but shame about portion sizes for the money, strangely one of the starters was bigger than a main course salad and drinks pricey, in the winter using as local pub makes it a bit dear , love the decor and staff are great , the food was lovely though

As a new restaurant some of the staff need to work up a little experience (wine bottle arrived on the table unopened, a waitress hurriedly arrived afterwards picked it up and tried to open it for several minutes before whisking it away to ask someone else to help), and there were some errors with the ordering. However nice atmosphere and nice food, I'm sure the service will improve with time.

Visited the riverside on Saturday night there was quite a few of us, so we found it hard to find a table big enough inside.the decor is lovely but the staff and food let it down. My husband went to get us drinks from the bar. He asked for a draught cider only to be told there wasn’t any, he asked what other ciders they had, they said there isn’t any others and to be honest the manager can’t be bothered at the moment to change the barrel !!!

Some of our party ordered food all at the same time, 2 of the people’s food came out really quick whilst the other person waited 40mins for chicken & chips then when it eventually came she had sweet potato chips not ordinary chips. The staff member said I can take the chips back but she would have to wait 15 mins for other chips so the chicken would have gone cold !!!

Would I go back again ?? I’m not sure

Such a shame as the revamp has made it look amazing, but sadly on our visit on Sunday it had the same feel as when it was The Harvester...shocking service and Luke warm food, I'm hoping this is just teething problems as it hasn't been open long, as the prices are on par with Other restaurants along the river so the service/food needs to reflect this

Poor service. Highly priced food for a pub. Food was poor, never sent a pizza back before but it just was not edible. No check back on your food if your sat on a restaurant table but outside ?!!! No cutlery, yet had only been open 1 hour. Not enough staff. I had to get up 8 tines during my meal for different things, yet the price reflects restaurant prices. It was total mayhem there and this lunch service on a Tuesday. Very disappointed. Only good thing is the view! Bring back the harvester !!

My friend had booked a table outside on wednesday, when we got there we were told it was inside. There is no air con and you would of thought after a refurbishment this would of been installed. So we sat inside a very hot restaurant. I ordered the lamb koftas which basically is 4 small koftas some side salad and a plain torilla wrap, the price £14 definitely not worth the money. My friend had chicken which was dry overall the food was poor. The drinks took ages to come, overall the food not worth the money. The management need to get the staffing sorted. I would go back but only to have a drink. The only positive is the view

I was so looking forward to my first visit after the recent refurb, but unfortunately I was very disappointed. The new decor is beautiful and there was a good atmosphere, but for this place to be a success they need to do something about the staff. The service was shocking! We arrived 10pm Monday evening for drinks. We ordered a Peach G&T and a Sloe G&T. The bar maid had no idea what either drink was. 3 times I had to say it’s not a Peach Bellini. She had to ask another member of staff to help her who didn’t know either. In fact this member of staff picked up the slice of lemon with her fingers to put it in the glass. Over 10 min later we received our drinks. If they take that long to serve 2 drinks when it is quiet they are never going to cope when it’s busy. At £8.95 per drink I expect better. The staff either need better training or they need better staff. Very disappointing!

Ham egg and chips is not rocket science so why serve burnt chips and burnt egg and salad swimming in oil ?

Good customer service would be an apology from the manager,a refund and a drink on the house so please try and get it right. The food is not cheap and needs to be as good as or better than you’d cook yourself. Simple.
