The Roaches Bunkhouse Description

The Roaches Bunkhouse is at the foot of The Roaches, a famous gritstone escarpment along the south west edge of the Peak District. Worn into fantastic shapes by the elements the rocks stretch for 3 miles with magnificent views over Tittesworth reservoir. The edges provide some of the best gritstone climbing in the country, with famous routes such as Valkyrie and The Swan. Roaches Bunkhouse is an ideal base for climbers, walkers and cyclists, with glorious walks, climbing and cycling from the doorstep in all directions. The rooms are simple with 2 or 4 beds in bunks. There is a communal area with tables and chairs, log fire, TV, board games, vending machines. Self Catering facilities are available in a small kitchen with fridge, cooker, microwave, kettle, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans. Ideal for simple meals but not equipped for commercial catering. Coin operated showers are available plus toilets, wash basins, drying room and secure bike storage. The Bunkhouse provides mattresses and pillows but you will need to bring your own sleeping bag. Sleeping bags are available for sale at the bunkhouse. Parking is provided on site. Roaches Bunkhouse is in the village of Upper Hulme in the Peak District National Park, 150 meters from Ye Old Rock Inn pub, which provides excellent food and draught ales. The Roaches Tea Room is 1 /2 a mile away and The Three Horse Shoes, The lazy Trout and the Winking Man are all within 2 miles. Leek, 3 miles away, is the closest town for shopping.
