Given a choice of route towards London out of an Industrial Estate, which would you choose for best fuel economy? Your first choice is straight onto a Motorway, 1.5 miles from the Estate. One set of traffic lights, and a roundabout to negotiate. Your second choice is through a village, 40mph speed restriction for 2.5 miles, 6 sets traffic lights, a hill, 2 roundabouts, but 3 miles less than the first choice. Takes about the same time. Which route would give the best fuel economy ?

If they did anything for drivers why are services charging such a rip off for parking and to make it worse one welcome break site in the new year is putting parking upto £42.50 a night!!!!!! Who the hell can afford that. You want something to do then sort this shambles out

User

I never wrote this but a chap on here did and hut the nail on the head !!!

I`ve been their seen it done it. trained over five thousand drivers now on cpc, and i can tell you all this at least 50% of all the drivers i`ve trained have told me they are not going to be working come september.

In my opinion, as an LGV driver that has worked throughout the country for over 20 years and instructor teacher qualified in logistics, i f***ing hate driving wagons for 15 hours a day it`s bloody dangerous, 9 hours off is a joke by the time you get home and have your dinner sometimes late in the evening you only get 6 hours snooze before your back up and driving for yet another 15 hours. How many jobs do you know of that would say start at 0600 and by 1200 say to you “your working until 2100 tonight” The Unions would be up in arms. All the money it takes to get the licenses only to have at the back of your mind “are Vosa going to stop me today?” up to £5000 on the spot fines and i could be unemployed in a day!!!! Imagine if you did not put your forks down properly on an flt then told your going to be docked a full days pay because of it!!! that`s how stupid this industry is getting but what the government wants to do is crash the industry. Without LGV drivers their is no commerce FACT. What are they going to do put all goods on trains and hand ball them to the shops? Drivers need to WAKE UP and stop working for peanuts, come on £8.50 all hours for doing what we do is an insult, yet, you bloody well do it?

The agencies need to pay the drivers top rates instead of coining the profit for basically doing SOD ALL. Haulage firms should contact drivers directly via a local network and pay them cutting out the middle man (that do sod all) I saw what happened in lutterworth when a large supermarket company made 60 drivers redundant only to employ polish drivers….Thinking they would save a fortune on wages…. within six months the entire fleet (no sh*t) was ruined bigtime. and a certain agency at the time had half the polish drivers on the same driving license working for another well known supermarket company. Experience is priceless, good drivers should be retained not forced out of the market like is what being done now with the dcpc. The dcpc should be 2 days long or 4x 2 hour segments focusing on WTD/Tachos and safe loading/H/S that way it covers all facts… whats going to keep me safe, and legal. evryone agrees with me on that. too long in a classroom, we need updates and refreshing NOT sucking eggs or doing the same course again and agian, makes no sence. yes, the EU is designed to fail, and the government agencies see LGV drivers as an easy target to get cash out of, but what`s it going to take to make people sit up and say ENOUGH? NO ONE wants to drive a truck for 60 hours a week starting and finishing at stupid times….NO ONE!!! We used to just get on with it, because the cash was ok some ten years ago but now, naaa, it`s crap and the young see that. Class 1 drivers should be on at least 14 quid an hour, and if ANY government jobsworth thinks otherwise may i suggest they get in a truck do the job professionally and put the hours in for a few weeks then come back and say £8.50 all hours etc is ok.
