MARSTON'S SADDLE TANK is our guest ale at the moment🍺🍻👌 An oldie but a goodie. The recipe's been around for yonks. Clear, bright and full flavoured with a malty, biscuit taste. We named it after the train that once brought hops and malts into the Brewery. And then shipped the beer out. All aboard - 3.8% abv.

We were welcomed by a friendly member of staff upon entering the pub who told us about the bar and pizza oven outside in the beer garden.

What a great set up. Friendly, buzzy and great service from this well staffed establishment. Thank you. I’ll be back !

We stumbled upon this place quite by chance. We were originally booked for afternoon Tea at the Midland Hotel. But since we had been there several times we decided to try the Royal. And I can honestly say it was a great choice. The staff very pleasant and attentive. Food was great and good value for money. Definitely worth a visit if in the area. Will definitely be back. Thank you for a great time and a lovely end to our holiday. ��

We had a meal on Valentine’s Day, following a drink from the cocktail menu, we sat at our table and chose from the menu. My husband chose blade of beef and I chose lamb shank. The blade came with an excellent pomme dauphinoise , the lamb was served with creamy mash, both meals came with a small bowl of gorgeous roasted vegetables 😋 All the while the staff were very attentive. An absolutely lovely night. Thankyou to Paul and Team Royal.

We called in on Easter Sunday without making a reservation and were told there was only room available in the Bar area. We waited for a table to become available and after a few minutes a member of staff was able to seat us at a table that was reserved for later in the afternoon.



The Fillet Steak was fantastic and cooked to perfection and as for the Sticky Toffee Pudding, WOW!!!

This is a proper pub with great atmosphere. Stopped off for a swift half. Didn't try the food, but it looked like they had a good choice and people were happily chowing down in the lovely shaded beer garden in the back.

Just popped in for coffe and cake (£5 each) after a walk at Heysham Head. Lovely place; very well laid out and tastefully decorated. Already trying to convince my husband that we need to go back for a weekend!

John our waiter was lovely! 70th birthday meal was all taken care of. The food was outstanding. I had goats cheese and apricot nut loaf! Wow wow wow yummy. Only thing a little bit of back ground music would be nice xx

I've been to The Royal twice now with my two sons aged 7 and 9 months and we've been blown away by the hospitality. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing and the staff are friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. On both occasions our served each time has taken the time to have a conversation with my little boy and make him feel like a valued customer and in a world where children are often seen as unwelcome guests, this was a big deal for both of us. I'm sorry I didn't catch their names so they can get the thanks and recognition they deserve.

The food is delicious and can't be faulted!

I have been to the Royal now 3 times with family, the staff are superb they can't do enough for you they are so pleasent. The food every time as been excellent, the real ale for hubby is just what he likes & wine is great. So every time we visit my sister in law who lives at

Heysham, the Royal is were we will be dining.

I always worry when ordering steak whether a chef can get it right.. Yes they did.. One of the best ribeye steaks I've had. Followed by prosecco. perfect. Oh and John the perfect waiter. �

Had a wonderful stay 10-11 June 2018 for my husbands birthday. The pub has been beautifully renovated and the welcone was warm and friendly. The beer garden at the rear is fabulous, especially on a very sunny day!



Our dog friendly room was in a separate, secure annex attached to the pub - the room was attractively decorated and very comfortable. A nice touch was a dog bed and water/food bowls that were provided. The evening meal, breakfast and choice of ales and soft drinks did not disappoint.



Keep up the good work!

Had a meal last week with friends, my little girl has food intolerances and the staff were really helpful. It was lovely for lilly to enjoy a full range on the menu. Rachel one of the waitresses had even baked some delicious gluten free brownies which she kindly let lilly sample for pudding. Food was delicious especially the pizza we will definitely be returning x

Fast services food very nice the heating is on l find it a bit hot (l don’t like anywhere to hot) staff very helpfully plenty off parking 5�����

Fantastic evening at a fantastic inn .

John looked after us all evening , he too was fantastic .

Great meal well served at a steady liesurly pace .

Great ale , great wine .

Brilliant meal. Lovely log fires. Friendly staff and my special diet easily catered for. The best mashed potato I’ve had for ages. Even water for my assistance dog Ted. The food was lovely.

As I'm vegan I called in advance when looking at booking here for dinner with my friend. The chef made some substitutions in the menu and was able to offer my mushroom risotto or a vegetable stack, I went with the vegetable stack with chips also ordering olives and hummus. It was amazing, they even provided a vegan pesto.



I would've taken a picture but it looked so delicious I couldn't wait. I would really recommend this place to anyone with dietary requirements as they were so accommodating and the food was excellent!



It's worth noting that they do usually have vegan ice-cream but unfortunately when I got there they had just run out so I didn't get to try it!

6 of us had a meal on the 9.4.18 service was outstanding along with the quality of the food ... the beer 🍺 was just as nice looking forward to summer and sitting out side ..

the decor was very nice 👍 will definitely be returning and I highly recommend this to anyone

I haven’t been in for a while so popped in for a quick drink with my husband yesterday. The place was buzzing. Atmosphere warm and welcoming (and very Christmassy!) they served mulled cider which was very welcome after our walk in the cold. Loads of people ordering food which looked lovely and if I hadn’t got a huge load left over from Christmas would be very tempted myself
