The Ruskin School Of Art Description

The Ruskin is distinctive within the University because all the teaching takes place within the school. The proximity between media and the way that art history and theory is entwined with studio work provides advantages to ambitious students. There is a sense of expectation about the place, a day-to-day exchange of ideas and a developing debate with the department as a whole.

The layout of the Ruskin’s facilities on two sites offers a strong working atmosphere. Personal studios are co-operatively arranged with fellow students according to need and change with each new group. We prefer to interview people who have visited the school and talked to Ruskin students so that they already have a realistic (and ambitious) view of the opportunities. Ruskin students are members of Oxford colleges that provide additional working relationships and support. Through the elaborate collegiate system, Ruskin students develop friendships covering many other subjects.
