About The Salvation Army Staple Hill

Staple Hill Citadel is a community based church in the heart of the Staple Hill shopping area. We have a programme to suit all ages, with special emphasis on family worship. You will always find a friendly face and a warm welcome for all.

The Salvation Army Staple Hill Description

We have been present in Staple Hill since 1865, and serving the local community with our diverse programme of activities and events every day of every week. We're not easy to find (just on the main street opposite Seymour Road), but you will most probably have seen or heard our band on the March, at Christmas, at Remembrance Day, and lots in between. You don't have to wear uniform at The Salvation Army, but many do - it doesn't matter, you'll still be welcomed. See you around!

Are you ready? Got your ticket? If not...........get in touch quick!.........before it's a sell-out! You won't miss anything on TV (you can record it!) - come and have a laugh with the rest of us that can't dance!! 😂

You might have heard the band, you might have seen us at the park, or joined us on Christmas Eve in the square... But have you ever wondered what we do at The Salvation Army and why we do it... Why do we wear a uniform? What do we do in this community? What is a "euphonium"?!
... Come along and find out the answers to all of the above... whilst enjoying live music, free refreshments and guided tours of our church!
On Sunday 14th October, our doors will be open to anyone to come and see what goes on at Staple Hill SA. Completely free, no booking required, just turn up, and have the chance to meet some of the people involved in our weekly activities.

As we set ourselves up for what we're sure will be a great day together tomorrow, here's a couple of memories of last Sunday afternoons "Cream Tea in the Square". All those freshly baked scones....Mmmm... can almost still smell them baking! See you tomorrow 😀

We’re getting set up for cream teas In The square. Music from 3:30, event from 4pm. Joining us? Go on. .... I’m sure you can squeeze in one more cream tea before the end of summer?! 😃

Hi everyone. Over the summer, we became aware of some Facebook postings that intimated that following the demolishing of the old Salvation Army at Staple Hill, it closed. Well, Joe & Nneka, 2 of our members have taken it on themselves to show you exactly what there is behind what appears to be a shop front (as some put it) on Staple Hill High Street. We think they've done a pretty good job. Why not come and see all these activities they mention for yourself?!....Well done guys! "I bet you don't know what's behind those doors..."

Enjoyed us down at Page Park this year? Were you with us last Christmas Eve in Fountain Square? Come and join us again for a summer version (although, sadly without a Christmas Tree!) We'll be there from 4pm, with a community Songs of Praise, immediately followed by Cream Teas in our community hall on Broad Street. (Please note: If it's raining, this event will still go ahead in our hall on Broad Street)
... Could this be your last cream tea of the summer??!

Well..... that was fun! Loads of people at Open Choir Night tonight. Well done Phil and the team for a fun inclusive night. Topped off with Birthday Cake, ice creams and coffee for Kelvin James 😃. Laura (head of our children’s work ) spoke to us in her bible talk of the impact of first impressions and that fact that all is not always as it would at first seem. Phil reiterated that everyone was welcome at any time. And specifically that every Thursday practice night is “open” to anyone. 8pm. And they’re back on 13th September. Some great singing and some great songs. Happy summer everyone!

It was a great day at Staple Hill SA yesterday, Sunday 22nd July, as during our morning service we witnessed the commissioning of our latest Salvation Army "Soldier", Joe Saint, along with "Adherent" (member), Adam Dickens. For those that were unable to attend, here's the live recording of the service. If anyone would like to know what the difference is between being a "Soldier" or an "Adherent" in the Salvation Army, then do get in touch - we'd be happy to explain.
