We love this group of hotels, yes they need updating in places and things weren’t always amazing but I love the feel of the place, we had some issues with the air con but we spoke to the manager Mark and he was brilliant and it was sorted out. The terrace bar is lovely, there is free chilled water on demand which I thought was lovely and unusual these days. The main meal I had was lovely, the goats cheese starter was a bit basic for me but how many places get it all right for everyone? Another person could have loved it. The breakfast was top drawer and the views very superb. The terrace in the evening and our balcony view was fabulous. We can’t wait to go and stay again or to Haven, Habour Heights or the chine.. keep up the good work guys....

User

Very nice hotel and amazing location. Chinese restaurant as good as it gets for quality. The hotel needs a little refurbishment but still very nice. I can’t see why people complain at bar prices in hotels it’s sandbanks for goodness sake. Land prices are more than enywhere in the country it’s not a spoons. The overheads must be phenomenal so you pay for the privilege. Staff on reception were lovely especially Jordan.

User

The location is excellent and if you can snag a deal it's a great place to stay. We overnighted here for £85 inc Breakfast. The nearest Premier Inn was £75 at time of booking (no brekkie). Service was excellent and the breakfast was tasty. What's not to like?

User

The harbour see view family room with balcony we stayed in was lovely. We were comfortable and the room is very spacious.

The staff are very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We Look forward to our next stay with you. Our children can not stop talking about the fun they had with Funsters.

User

Just returned from another stay here With my elderly parents my mum is in a wheelchair my dad has got dementia the staff are superb I run my own guest house and I was very impressed with all the staff in all t areas ,yes the rooms are a little dated but I don’t go to a place to stay in the room, I go for location and service and it was first class and we will be returning for an autumn break thanks to all Julie Bryant

User

Just had our daughters wedding reception here, Amy the wedding events planner was fab, the food and buffet food was very nice, views overlooking bay were amazing, well worth a visit, we live localy but came home feeling we had had a break away, really need to keep this hotel here for everyone one to enjoy

User

Before we went, we read the Tripadvisor reviews, etc, and there were some that said the hotel could do with a refurb, and was a bit "tired".

When we arrived, I'm not going to lie, you COULD say that is the case.

HOWEVER, the rooms are very clean, the balcony views are great, the staff are friendly and efficient, the food is great, too, and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

Personally speaking, the room decor was the last thing on our minds: it's ok....everything's there: ironing board, hair dryer, air-con, bedside tables, power points for phone chargers, free wi-fi, good selection of tea / coffee, decent sized TV with full Freeview channels, nice sized double bed, good shower, etc....

But, to be honest, we spent more time relaxing on the balcony with a drink or two, rather than discussing the interior decor....!! ;-)

So, I'd recommend this hotel for a relaxing get-away: Bournemouth is an easy 1 hours stroll along the promenade, and the sandy beaches are lovely: it really did feel like we could have been on some tropical beach at times, especially with the decent weather we have had lately....!

User

We are staying here at the moment - I honestly think some of the comments on here are a little harsh.

We came here to just relax and turn off from our busy life’s.

Mission achieved we both relax ! And happy

It is on the beach it a breach hotel. Beautiful Beach

My room it spotless clean t.v freeWi-Fi the hotel is spotless - room Service tea coffee hot chocolate biscuits in the room.

Our room it basic on the 3rd floor it fine.

All staff very Pleasant anything I’ve ask for I got it.

Food it great.

We had two big party’s here to night - did not affect the rest of the hotel.

If your room is on the 3rd floor keep I mind the lift only goes to 2nd floor - you walk up like 5 step to the 3rd floor.

User

Really thoughtful, caring and friendly staff at this hotel. Booked for the views and food, would return for the service received. Went out of there way to accommodate an unusual request for a youngish but not so mobile lady and her carer. Yes the building is a little dated in places and bedroom carpets could do with replacing, however, the 2 rooms we had were very clean and well presented and the main lounge and bar area was very tasteful. Service over gloss every time. Thanks so much.

User

Over the long weekend had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay, with polite caring and attentive staff. All the meals I had were of the highest quality and the presentation was excellent. For a hotel I though the price of drink was reasonable. In respect of the room and the corridors there are aspect where they look tired and in need of some attention from the point of view of decoration. That being said our room was clean an comfortable and serviced well each day.

User

My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it, we had a really impressively sized room overlooking the harbour which was lovely and the positioning of the hotel right next to the beach on the other side was excellent. Would definitely stay there again!

User

Mixed feelings. Food quite good. Staff pleasant. Needs decorating although did see some painting being done so maybe that’s underway. Chairs and sofa in our room the most uncomfortable I’ve ever sat in. You do need to check your bill as ours stated 3 x£10 for parking. This was corrected as soon as we mentioned it. Also Charged £1 each time we booked a table for dinner. Pint of beer increased from £5.50 to £6.10 overnight. Probably won’t return. Shame as the views are beautiful.

User

Just returned from a weekend stay here and was very pleased with everything. Room with a sea view on the third floor, lift to the second floor only but was offered assistance with luggage to our room. The Ocean View restaurant was fantastic and the views from both restaurants were incredible. Two functions on our last night but prior warning from the staff meant alternative dinner arrangements could be made and there was no noise. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. Yes the bathrooms and some of the decor is a little dated in some areas but in others it is modern and stylish. However, did return to our room after a whole day out to find housekeeping had left it open. Thankfully nothing had been taken but this was extremely disappointing.

User

Dropped my parents off for their 4 day stay. Apart from the veranda with outside bar and an amazing view of the beach, I would say the hotel is in need of some care and attention especially the pool area which is depressingly dark and dismal and not what I would say 4*star and not a nice place for the poor pool boy to work. The bedroom was large and bathroom had 2 sinks which is handy. Could not see out of the window due to immense condensation between the glass pains - shame as they had paid for a ‘sea view’.

User

The hotel is extremely dated and poorly maintained, the room we had was a harbour view room and this was the only good thing I can say.

No hot water, sink didn’t work, extremely dirty and very hot even in April. Reception not particularly friendly or caring, took several attempts and over 2 hours to get an ironing board.

Food is ok, but restaurant is quite old fashioned.

Needless to say we will no longer be using this hotel for business and I won’t be coming back myself.

User

Disappointed, had a lovely evening last week with my partner. Thought it would be a good idea to pop in and have dinner on the way home. Big mistake. Food arrived cold after waiter could not find our table, even when we stopped the original member of staff that took the order, and said “ it’s our food “ wasn’t having it, he just asked if we ordered cocktails. My partner sent a email complaint , no response. It’s all very well at the moment whilst it’s holiday season, but they are quick to forget who pops in for coffee all year round. Yes that’s right the locals of Poole. Shame on you........

User

. My hubby ,our 1 Anniversary weeding day choose this place but we are very disappointing the place. Staff rude and not helpful. Breakfast very poor. Obviously we are stayed 1 night but we are planning for 3 day, so decided leave the place. Only one thing is a amazing just the view.

User

Visited this afternoon for lunch and was extremely disappointed. Upon arrival we were met with a dirty, green fish tank that looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Whilst waiting for our food we witnessed one of the staff (possibly cleaner or caretaker) chucking food left on the table to the seagulls and drinks over the wall onto the beach. We ordered two basic meals, chicken burger and a bloomer cheese and pickle sandwich. The chicken burger was pretty average but obviously came from a freezer and wasn’t freshly made on site. The sandwich was returned due to being extremely poor quality. The bread was thin and looked as though it had come from a ready sliced loaf, definitely not a bloomer, the cheese and pickle was tasteless and pretty much non existent and the sandwich had been squashed flat with visible handprints in the bread. It did come with a side of crisps which some were stale. The lady serving us was very apologetic and refunded the meal without question. We were offered a replacement but politely declined as didn’t feel there would be any improvement. Such a shame but very unlikely to return. Your website boasts celebrated chefs and commitment to good food with local ingredients. I would be intrigued to know how you meet this statement?

User

Very disappointed and i feel ripped off, i payed strong money for poor service, to top it off i payed upon leaving then 3 months later got charged again, dont trust them with card details, they say i wasnt charged back in November but i have proof from the bank thay did so i will be instructing a solicitor very soon, in my eyes they have taken money from me without consent. The staff never call back regarding this. I wont ever go back nor will i recommend it and judging on the other reviews im not the only one with a bad tast in my mouth. Well done Sandbanks hotal.
