Food wasn't good and over priced. Service wasn't very helpful. Most things on my plate were heavily deep fried. When I stated I wasn't happy, didn't make a difference to the guy who was charging. Won't go back

Beer garden outside, but if you are inside, apart from the rowdy pool room, there is just one tiny area just 3 tables under big tv. No atmosphere, lacking in character , un-cosy lighting, really chilly - front doors left open all the time! Seriously needs a makeover - very 1990's meets 2000... strip the walls, put in decent lighting, make it cosy like it should be as an old inn. Shame! Slow but friendly service, tho' one member of staff struggled to understand 'Northern' English. Beers ran out, so little available - food pretty mediocre & overpriced. Indian restaurant on side seemed ok - seriously in need of someone to give it a good makeover. Could be lovely!

Giving this place 1 star is being very generous! When checking in, a large group of 12, the guy was rude and had a disgusting attitude! The place is far to over priced for the food, drinks and rooms! The pints were off and they probably haven't cleaned their lines for months and the same goes for the rooms! There was no toilet roll or towels when we checked in and had to ask, which again seemed a chore! Half of our rooms showers didn't work, with brown water coming back through the sink. The doors didn't lock and anyone could have entered the room. The pictures on the website do not match up to the rooms. The decor was very dated and nothing at all matched. With the price the they are charging for everything they could afford some designers in! But then again this is probably a job for DIY SOS! We were told breakfast would start at 8:30am, waited over an hour for the chef to turn up, due to a diversion, unless there's a heard of sheep in the way I couldn't imagine a diversion which takes over an hour in Alnmouth. When we finally received our breakfast it was cold, similar to our welcoming! Everyone else was complaining, then complained at us saying we were delaying the full restaurants breakfast! The owners / management / staff would have known months in advance of us checking in that we were coming and therefore should have been ready for a Sunday rush! Only one staff member on, who was lovely, but should have had support! Could not complain in the morning as there was no management around and was told to leave the keys. Overall a poor experience and would not recommend anyone to stay here. I think the ghosts have even left its that bad.

Great food but service was a little slow owing to one Waitress doing all the work on her own

User

Service was good, food was nothing special, pretty bog-standard

What a lovely friendly place, the staff were great and the food was fabulous...best curry we have ever had
The accomodation is a little tired in places but the new management has just taken over and are currently renovating, the rooms that have been done are lovely and clean
The housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful
We didnt take our dogs but the Hotel does allow well behaved dogs, although i have to say we never saw any sign of dog hair in either of our rooms so the cleaning crew are certainly good.
The kids loved that the beach is 1 minute walk away and the bus stop to town and the train station is right outside, the hotel even had discount vouchers for alnwick gardens which the kids loved. When it was chilly the pool table and tv came in handy and the staff were brilliant with the children.
All in all a lovely place and we cant wait to stay again in a few months and see how much more has been done under this new management team.

Spooky and haunted. Everything I've ever dreamed of!

Under new management and they are doing a great job of it, situated in Northumberland street, you can dine in, or believe it or not, take away fish and chips, service and help were fantastic staff always pleasing to talk too. Cannot comment on the ghosts or overnight stays.
