Ciao! Buon Giorno! A last minute cancellation means we have a private dining evening free this Saturday 21st July. Come and experience the real taste of Italy in out traditional Italian Trattoria here in the heart of Barnsley. We can seat 8-14 people together for an Italian feast. Ciao! Claudia the chef is away for a few days, so we will be closed until the 10th of May. We are still taking midweek and lunchtime reservations for when she gets back, however unless we get any cancellations we have no Friday and Saturday evenings available until the New Year. Ci vediamo presto!

Wow....first of all, Claudia is amazing...so passionate and knowledgeable about Italian food and Italy itself...had a lovely chat about food and Italian places to go and see...next, the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD, I've never had fish so good, literally melts in your mouth...bruchetta was amazing, tiramisu was outstanding, and Claudia's home made ice cream is fantastic. The restaurant is perfectly small so you get great fresh food cooked just for you...words struggle to describe how fantastic this little place is...hands down, it's the best restaurant we've visited outside Italy...get booked in, you won't regret it!

Wow! What can I say. Visited for dinner last night with my husband and parents after trying to get a table for months. Truly and utterly not disappointed. The food is amazing I cannot even begin to decide which was my favourite from the olives to begin, the bruschetta, the pasta and then the incredible chicken which if we hadn’t had been so full we could have eaten an entire plate. To finish we chose to share the tiramisu which was probably the best I had ever had.

I cannot begin to say what an amazing little piece of Barnsley this is and have already booked for my birthday there next year!

What can I say other than it was amazing. Don't ever change, it's perfect just as it is. Fabulous food and great hospitality. Will definitely be back x

We were lucky enough to get a cancellation last night and had a fabulous evening. Felt like you were in your home chatting to friends it was so welcoming and chilled. The food was amazing but beat us, it's definitely a don't eat within 8 hours before kind of place as you don't want to leave a mouthful. Loved it and will definitely be back

We visited tonight and was magical. The food was absolutely delicious Claudia was very attentive always asking if we wanted more or anything different. I cannot recommend this little gem enough and could give 6 or 7 star. Think they are going places and hope they do as I love to see such lovley hardworking people do well.already booked to come back to this gem. Hope for me it stays secret but hope for them they own 20 restaurants around the country. You deserve it !!!!!!!

We visited on Tuesday for Lunch .

Having just returned from Rome , we wanted to remain in our Italian dream for just one more day .

We weren’t disappointed ! The food was outstanding ! Far superior and better quality than the food that we had experienced in Rome itself !!

We will be back ! And have booked for an evening in January to experience further tastes from Italy !

Visited with my special friends for my 40th Birthday. The welcome, service and food were wonderful!! Pure authentic food, the owners could not have been nicer or done more for us and the whole night was so special. Would highly recommend!!!

Unbelievable its like been picked up amd transported to Mammas kitchen in some italian village lovely cosy environment and what I can only guess is the closest thing you can get to traditional family italian food worth every penny EXCELLENT food I couldn't fault it the only thing was I couldn't eat any more this "little secret" is a massive find don't tell too many people we won't be able to get in again

Small venue but service and food is nice and simple. Would recommend to anyone who likes no nonsense good food.

Oh my god, this place is exquisite, it's just like going for dinner in your best friends kitchen. The food is superb, the atmosphere great but most of all, the hostess, the wonderful Claudia is like your long lost cousin who you just want to spend time with. Thank you for a wonderful evening, and to your other guests who also made our night (yes we still want to your son's autograph lol ). We will definitely be making a return visit and, as promised, will invite Claudia to one of my Persian feasts xxxx, I will ensure its on a Sunday after your bleaching fest � xxxx

Just back from The Secret Italian. Had to sit on table with 4 complete strangers in a tiny restaurant........ and it was brilliant!! Great company 😃 Hosts were first class making you feel at home and the authentic Italian food is second to none. Value for money is unbelievable a hidden gem of a place, please let there be more cancellations soon can’t wait til 2019 to go again

It was quite a shock when I went through the door,however I couldn't have wished for better food or service. It rates in my top 2 of all the places I have eaten in. The food was authentic and company we met there made the atmosphere perfect

Booked by my wife as a surprise for my 50th birthday. What a place! I'd heard and read things, but nothing prepared me for how much I enjoyed myself. A quaint little room with family seated all around with the addition of the perfect hosts in James and Claudia. The food was delicious and plentiful throughout and the service was just superb. Do not miss the chickpea and potato soup if you are lucky enough to blag a booking. It was out of this world!

As for the tiramisu, well just get booked in and discover this hidden gem for yourselves - you will not be disappointed. Simply perfect! Thank you James and Claudia - you are both as wonderful as the food and atmosphere you cook up.

Been as a group for my birthday, absolutely amazing. Every course better than the one before. Italian meats and beans with olives and bruschetta. Then an chickpea and potato soup which had to be tasted to be believed . Then pasta in a gorgeous sauce. Then chicken done with little cubed potatoes followed by beautiful fish. Then tiramisu and limoncello to finish. Everything cooked fresh in traditional homemade style. Felt like a traditional meal in Italy. All that was missing was the sunshine but the music and the surroundings made you imagine it was outside the door. Having a rest before I go to bed as I am so full next time I won't eat all day before I go. Booked up till June for the weekend but recommend everybody to make a reservation for the week. The Secret Italian is far too good to be kept a secret. Thanks to Claudia and James for a wonderful evening.

After finding out about this little gem on Facebook I instantly wanted to try it out.

My husband and I who are huge lovers of all things Italian were so excited to book in for Lunch.

As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by the lovely Claudia, we took our seat, tucked into some olives, we had Bruschetta for starters, we have Claudia tell us the specials, I had Pasta amatriciana, my husband had the meatballs. Both dishes were faultless. I made sure I saved room for desert which happened to be Tiramisu, and I can honestly say it was the BEST tiramisu ive ever tasted. This place is the place to go. Everything you could want from a dining experience you get here.

Absolutely amazing! Felt like I was in Italy....so rustic and authentic. Delicious food cooked daily by Claudia, fabulous Italian bread and home made tiramisu to die for�

Can't wait to go again with a bottle of wine.

Highly recommended.
