I loved it.
Not because I enjoyed shopping there.
It's because my wife had a great shopping experience while my son and I enjoyed having hot chocolates watching her doing so.

Unfortunately I am forced to post a Google review due to the racist artwork they promote at the Bluebird store. I had dropped by the other day to purchase a dress I had been recommended when upon entering the store I noticed a large illustration on the wall by Tanya Ling showing a model in "blackface". This was a very mocking image and I felt made fun of African culture - just as the "golly***" was first created to do. I did not want to spend a minute longer in a store that would promote such an image and give it provenance, in fact I felt unwelcome and intimidated. Since the models face is dark brown - but has blue eyes, pale body and european hair made to look as afro hair - nobody could argue otherwise.

However the store did. The Bluebird told me this could not possibly be racist since the Illustrator was from India and had lived in Africa. I kindly had to remind them that I did not need an excuse, and that India has one of the highest racism rates against people of African origin. This was disgraceful since their reason for an image not being discriminatory was it was produced by someone of another ethnicity. Not a subjective, artistic and critical response that would have reassured me to the error. I was also informed it was an illustration made for the illustrious Victor and Rolf, a fashion house known for its offensive errors. How short sighted and narrow minded can you be in this era of education!

We have here a shop that neither considers what it sells or promotes.
The Bluebird store has a very dark underside, and excuses discrimination instead of rejecting it. They pretend to be a forward thinking store with links into the fashion industry, and I would recommend not supporting there backward views with your cash.

Please note fashion illustration is not political art. No statement was being made with this image for shock or reflection on society. Then I would consider my approach. This is simply what it is.

Really wonderful store, one of my favourites in London. The staff are so friendly and helpful! I have never walked in the store and not bought something I can't resist!!

People's opinions of this shop will vary depending on what their budget is. The shop itself is beautifully laid out and there are many beautiful clothes and other fashionable accessories, but they're all priced far higher than most people would be willing to pay and many items are available much cheaper elsewhere on the high street. For example, a standard pair of Levi jeans here cost about £170, when they're £60 in another shop just down the road.

That said, there are some boutique designers available here which are probably more deserving of their price tag. I'd say this shop definitely isn't aimed at people that look at price tags before buying something. If you're not one of those people, then this shop is great to look around but shop around before you take the plunge!
