We are a country pub at the junction of Scotch Corner in the village of Middleton Tyas, we source our food as local as possible and all is homemade.

The Shoulder of Mutton is a traditional family owned 400 year old village pub, set in the picturesque village of Middleton Tyas located in the heart of the village, on the outskirts of the Market Town of Richmond. We are at junction 59 on the A1 at Scotch Corner and the A66
The Shoulder of Mutton has been part of the village community for over 400 years. A place of fond memories, laughter and life. Middleton Tyas is one of the most picturesque parts of this beautiful area. So, like every real Yorkshire village, it needs a pub full of tradition.
A warm welcome awaits you when you enter this charming country pub, We pride ourselves on our friendly welcome and service and our excellent food, we provide the perfect venue for an intimate lunch, a cosy dinner or a meeting of friends and family.
We offer the perfect stopping place on journeys both north and south on the A1 or even west A66
So if you are looking for a quiet drink you have now found a meeting point to while away the hours with friends or a place to rest after a long country walk. With many public footpaths and bridleways surrounding the village, it is an idyllic place to enjoy a long country walk followed by a delicious meal and a drink you'll find a friendly welcome and inviting surroundings. You are more than welcome for a drink or a meal.

Who’s coming down for steak night?
We are currently looking for a full or part time experienced front of house member with future progression at The Shoulder of Mutton,Middleton Tyas, with an excellent reputation for food and service, which you must be prepared to work hard to maintain. You must be able to work as part of a small team and have a good attitude along with a friendly personality to ensure excellent customer service at all times. The ability to go the extra mile to look after regular and valuable ...customers is a must. The job will include general bar duties, serving drinks and food, handling cash, keeping your work area and the pub on a whole clean and tidy even at the busiest times, and above all keeping our customers happy. It is a challenging position but for the right candidate an excellent rate of pay will be provided and you will become a part of our close knit team. 30-45 hours a week, including weekend shifts, actual shifts to be arranged.Contact James on 01325 377271 or email cv to jameswilliamson8@aol.com
