The Shropshire Field

'the Shropshire field' is a local, family run business growing, selling cut flowers, for any occasion, e. g. weddings and funerals etc.

I started the Shropshire field during the early months of 2013. It has grown from a dormant pipe dream I had over 16yrs ago, which was to grow a lavender field. The dream seems to have morphed into a cut flower field which includes two long lavender beds. So I got my lavender after all, together with an ever changing array of flowers throughout the year.
Last year the cut flower growing beds were ploughed and rotavated with the help of a local farmer and my brother. . . . . his first attempt at ploughing! What a splendid job you did, thanks Rob.
With the support of a local business funding grant I bought and erected ( rather my husband and his mates did) a poly tunnel for the growing of my various seedlings.
Next came the bore hole. . . . . . I think we had the neighbours worried and thinking, fracking! Much to their delight, it was just a water hole.

So last year was all about the infra structure and attending farmers markets to sell my plants. The last few years have been about establishing the growing beds for cut flowers.
