Went for the cabaret night and had a great time. Food was amazing and entertainment spot on!

This was our first visit to the Smugglers and we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic and the staff were wonderful. I don't usually rave about many restaurants, but this one was more than excellent. We shall certainly be returning for another meal. Thank you to all the staff at The Smugglers.

User

This is, without doubt, the best restaurant I have eaten at in Thanet. Everything from food to service was superb. I would highly recommend The Smugglers to anyone.

User

Thank you for our lovely mother's Day meal. Amazing food as always.

Spent New Year’s Eve at Smugglers and it was superb. It was a full house but everything ran like clockwork. The food was extremely good quality and the portions were large! The staff were incredible on such a busy night and no expense spared on party hats and favours. Highly recommend.

My friend Peter and I went for a meal on my last night of my Holiday in Birchington.

The service was superb. The meal was absolutely delicious. We were looked after very well indeed.

They even made a special sauce for my friend Peter as he does not like mushrooms.

I love going to The Smugglers Lounge Bar and Restaurant when I go on Holiday to Birchington. It is always such wonderful food and very good service.

User

Lovely friendly welcome from lovely friendly staff!! Very attentive throughout our meal, and even with 24 of us everything ran smoothly!! Kids were catered for as they didn't want the roasts or anything on the menus! Highly recommend!!

My hubby and I have just moved to the area and decided to try 'the smugglers' tonight. We are glad we did the little bar area is cosy and quaint with comfortable chairs, open fire and friendly staff.

We ordered our drinks and were brought the menu..the menu is varied but not easy to choose from as the dishes all seemed delicious

We were taken to our table through the building which is lovely with all its old original features and lead to the dining area, which is beautifully laid out with crisp white linen, by the waiter who was smartly dressed and very polite.

The food was delicious and I would recommend you try the lobster crab and prawn tower which was as good to look at as it was to eat.

The manager came and asked if we was enjoying our meal, very friendly and nice to chat too.

The price is a little bit more then your average eating establishment but this isn't average.

Highly recommend you try and would also be a great place for a small wedding reception or celebration.

User

Excellent Christmas dinner. The beef was excellent, tender and tasty. The service was very friendly . The only downside was that they were running late and we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. It was the 4th time I have been there and I would recommend it

User

Very disappointed with what we received last night. We have been quite a few times and have always had excellent food. Last night being our anniversary we went again. We both choose from the weekday offer menu, which we had to ask for a menu not offered. We both ordered for starters the garlic mushrooms in a creamy sauce. The sauce was far from creamy and there was no hint of garlic. Stating this on a menu would indicate it was quite an important feature of the dish, it was very bland. My wife did not finish hers. For the main we both went for the steak linguine. Again, very little seasoning or garlic and herbs as described. It was so bland my wife again ate hardly anything. Whilst I accept that things at times may not be as good as it could, it was the attitude after that shocked me. The waitress asked us if we were finished, noticed that 1 dish was hardly touched, the other with a sizable amount left, did not ask us if anything was wrong with the food. In my experience that's a sign that this is not unusual but happens often. When she asked straight away did we want another drink, we said we was going to, but not after what we was just served. Again, no response. No asking what was wrong.. ..anything. so instead of asking for afters, we went to pay. My wife when she explained what was wrong to who I presume is the owner, was basically told that she did not know what she was talking about as the people after us said how amazing it was. Maybe theirs had seasoning that ours didn't? She was then told that what we had was not on the a la carte menu and we shouldn't expect the same quality. Well done, we have eaten in much better restaurant's and no I wouldn't expect it to be. What I do expect is something better than what I could buy in a local cafe. Whilst our 2 courses came in at under £21, should you still not expect a certain level of quality? That's why we went there and not beano cafe! What if that was our 1st time there and we wanted to see the standard you was getting to encourage you to go a la carte, then they would have been very disappointed also. To be fair we were given a discount, of less than £2 for my wife to eat next to nothing. Sorry, that is so unacceptable. Fine dining calls for quality well cooked food regardless of what I order or how much we spend. I am more shocked that the owner was prepared to argue that we were wrong when we was the ones eating the food. Maybe he should give Rolls Royce a lesson in how to be perfect, but even the best of the best make mistakes, they don't have the arrogance to say they are never wrong tho.

User

Looking forward for days to have your anniversary meal there. We had quite a few options to take. Sadly the midweek special was not special and a huge let down. I'm actually gutted to the fact I had a hypo after not being able to have meal there but was told I should have had the more expensive menu.
