While Europeans are a lot more cavalier about the human form, I found it shocking that, at a hotel that caters to such an international environment, that the spa area (cold bath, steam room, sauna and relax room) are very co-ed "without any warning". It wasn't that is was co-ed, it was the fact I was not warned. Modesty was just a dropped towel away from dismissal. But, let's not just focus on this.
In the relax room-a space for quiet, to release and prepare for your appointment, a man had his iPad playing -quite loudly- something noisy and annoying. It was this which ruined the whole experience for me.
But, again, let's not focus on this, too much. Overlooking the negatives, this is actually a beautifully arranged location, with excellent services and decent pricing. The massage therapist who worked on me was friendly, loved the job and had yeas of experience. And, there is a wonderful spa discount of £15, when you purchase your room with this credit.
So, if you don't find people rudely using their iPads at the highest decibels, WITHOUT headphones, to be extremely annoying and stressful at the spa, then this place is for you. And, of course, now you are warned of the environment so no excuses.
Me, I am not sure I will return again when a spa, a place of relaxation, allows such nonsense to occur. And, for the record, I actually left the spa interior, in a robe, to inform them. Thus, a no-go from me.
Charged me for service in advance, then when I arrived they told me no one did that service at that spa. I spent nearly 30 minutes listening to the woman argue with the central service saying that she could not do my manicure because she was going ON BREAK. I asked for a refund since she refused me service. I still have no refund after asking at the spa and then calling central booking! Most terrible spa experience ever!
Very disappointing. Wanted to book spa treatments for 3 people, with 1 hr facials and 1hr massages. The spa refused to accommodate our group and insisted that even though they employ many therapists and I had given them multiple weeks notice, they would not schedule more than one therapist. meaning that each person would have to go individually instead of as a group.
I really felt let down by the facilities, they were strange and uncomfortable, not relaxing at all and way too much money for what it is and the rooms at the hotel are like staying at a holiday inn.’s standard basic room , I guess it’s because it’s London. Next time I know to just go for a cheap hotel option because it’s all you’re going to get around here anyway even at a place with high prices like this. :(
