Went with my family for the tapas evening, through a series of misdirections we were about half an hour late for our booking but the waitress was very understanding and welcoming. The food was of a very high quality and the ambience with the live music was great. Will definitely return

Well... never heard a good review about the place but got chatting to the head chef at the Darlington Food Festival who told me it’d changed and I promised I’d give it a try. I’ll definitely return! Very pleasantly surprised, friendly staff and excellent food. Keep up the good work head chef and staff!!

The food here is fabulous and the staff are very friendly. The food is well priced and presented very well with a decent selection on the menu. There is outdoor seating near a lovely little play area for small children. All round a very nice place and would definitely recommend it to everyone. ����

Other than a longer wait then I would have liked. The whole experience of this pub has been top notch. The staff on arrival were obviously stressed from a busy service. Which is not their fault. Apologies were made. Drinks were ordered. And other than the longer wait than we wanted the meal was amazing. One of the best steaks I've ever had. Sides were amazing too. Even after out meal. The drinks we had with the staff were brilliant. And the service did not feel force. After his shift we were lucky enough to have a few drinks and play(ish) pool with Martin. Amazing food. Brilliant night. Defiantly coming back x

Not been here in a long while, not since it changed hands anyway. Absolutely worth it, staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Food better than ever, we’ve always enjoyed the food but today was outstanding, their chef certainly knows what he’s doing! We’ll definitely be back that’s for sure, lots more choices on the menu we’d like to try. Well done Spotted Dog, you’re doing a fantastic job. May have to leave the car at home next time �

Me and the twin get up here at least a couple of times a month for a beer and a few games of pool (the twin doesn't enjoy losing). Always greeted with a smile whoever's behind the bar, and there's always a great ambiance. It's certainly changed over the years, but getting back to its best. Keep it up team Dog :)

Just had a lovely visit to The spotted Dog. Greeted by an extremely friendly and efficient lady whom I believe was the assistant manager. She couldn't have been more friendly, informative and helpful. She helped us make our choice of lunch as we were undecided...there was so much to choose from. We had sandwiches which were generously filled and served attractively with chips and salad. Will most definitely be returning!!!!!

I’m from the tennis club next door and we held a Quiz Night there on Friday evening. We also held one there last year and the improvement in service was very notable. We were placed in a much better area and Jonny and the girls behind the bar couldn’t have been more helpful. We all had a fantastic night and we look forward to holding more event there in future!

Had rump steak with peppercorn sauce on 2 for 1 Wednesday this week, steak was cooked to perfection and the peppercorn sauce was the best I’ve tasted from any restaurant, I definitely recommend. Hat off to the chef! �

Food here is lovely, we have been a few times for Sunday lunch and it was really nice, also been for grill night which is an absolute bargain as well as lovely food.

Every part of my meal was gorgeous! 4 of us all had different meals and all VERY nice! Friendly staff.. first visit but will definitely be back to try more �

Been wanting to try this place for ages and finally got chance. The decor looks a little bit dated but nothing a fresh carpet couldn't solve. That's where the constructive criticism ends. The service was great, quick and friendly. The food was beautiful. Steak cooked to perfection and everything hot. I am so full right now I might pop but worth it. Added to our list of go to places x

Absolutely immense food off the Game Menu. Scrummy �

Our lil fella enjoyed his mini cheese burgers & then the lovely staff gave him a double scoop of choc chip ice cream.......special treat for a special guest. I would highly recommend, the food is to die for & the staff are super friendly, polite & accommodating xx we'll be back real soon xx

The food was lovely. However the service was poor to say the least. Our starters arrived before the cutlery. I went to the bar for a pint, then the barman gave me our cutlery to take to our table. If you are paying £50 plus for a meal you expect more. I doubt we will be returning to the Spotted Dog.

Arrived with the family for our sons birthday, staff couldnt of been more friendly took orders for the drinks them came back for food orders the steaks were beautiful we'll definitely be back.

Went for a meal on Friday night, no steak available. Food was average service was awful. Plates were put down and the staff just walked straight off without asking if we needed anything or to say enjoy your meals. Had to get cutlery and vinegar off next table. Never came back to see if everything was ok and we were the only people eating. More interested in talking to locals at the bar.
