We had a fabulous Sunday lunch yesterday would really recommend it , lovely staff and didn’t have to wait very long for food and it was beautifully cooked and very well presented

Visited the squire last night with my partner!

Steaks were cooked perfectly to our liking, starters we're great to! My only disappointment was the cesar salad had anchovies in, so went for the pate instead which was still great! Could you possibly offer a salad without these in? But overall enjoyed out evening! Thanks!

Visited the Sodbury Steak House on a personal recommendation and was not disappointed. The service was amazing (a rarity in itself) and the food was equally to a very high standard. The bar staff were attentive and helped to make the whole experience a pleasant one. Recommended, if you enjoy steak!

The pub was very very busy. Our table was ready on time. Very friendly service and despite it being busy the wait for food was good. Excellent quality and good value

A great night.

Thank you for such a great meal yesterday, all the food was delicious, great & friendly waitresses, atmosphere and lovely drinks. Couldn’t fault a thing - please open a pub in Frampton Cotterell!

Popped in for Sunday lunch yesterday as a colleague had recommended, and was really impressed - really well cooked meat ( we had lamb and beef) - I like the fact the vegetables are served separately and not piled on your plate. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with beverage choices - even happy to join in with my ridiculous request for a sherry schooner (sadly all schooners had "disappeared")... really pretty Christmas decorations too - defo would recommend and go again. Well done The Squire.

Managed to book a table for sunday lunch. Was so glad we did. Myself and my friend had the meat combo, consisting of lamb, beef and pork. All the trimmings, gravy and choice of sauces. Service was excellent. Food was quickly served and was absolutely delicious. Would recommend and will definitely be going again.

Fantastic meal. Had homemade Sourthern fried chicken, coleslaw, sweet potato fries, savoury scones and the most awesome peppered homemade gravy. I even asked for a 'doggy bag'

Deciding between 2 local steak places and Sodbury Steakhouse was recommended to us. Trying it we were not disappointed- lovely food and great steaks. Novel idea for dessert menu bring actual examples to your table so you can see what you want! Our server was brilliant too - Natasha is a real asset to your team. We’ll definitely be back!!

Celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary with an amazing meal. The steak was amazing and the puddings were to die for, especially the warm New York cheesecake and peanut butter brownies. Looking forward to our next visit

Booked a table for 4 @ 18:00 this evening (23/3/17) to celebrate my birthday. Staff were friendly and efficient. The dining area is nicely decorated. Had the best ribeye I've ever had, cooked to perfection.

The food is fantastic, the portions generous and the service was exemplary. Really enjoyed the meal!

Would definitely recommend to family, friends and anyone else.

Fabulous huge dirty burger ! Pizza topped burger with loads of bacon and cheese! Lovely waitress too 😊

14.95 for a chicken burger and corn on the cob I thought was a bit steep compared to my friends who only paid 6.95 for their chiabatta lunches with chips !!

Popped in this pub for a drink it was ok it had a nice warm fire 🔥But nothing else it just seemed empty and sparse they serve food but when we were there the kitchen was closed

while we were there all we heard was someone swearing not sure if it was the staff or a customer but it didn't sound nice not the sort of thing I want to hear while out for a drink I think this is more a spit and sawdust pub for the locals

I have eaten from the lunch menu twice and both times have been inedible. The jacket potato I had was rock hard and the granary bread I had another time was stale. I don't find the staff very welcoming either. I have also eaten late in the evening which was a better experience. The sirloin steak was delicious although very expensive.

What a shame... After hearing good reviews and being truly excited by the menu my overall feeling is one of disappointment. We arrived at 5.30 and the restaurant was fairly quiet. Upon being seated we were told in no uncertain terms that we had to be out by 8, which wasn't mentioned when booking the table, luckily we needed to be gone by 7.15 anyway. We thought this would be plenty of time to have main course and pudding. As it turned out we only had time for mains as it took 55 mins from ordering to get our food. At 40 minutes we were regularly trying to catch the staffs eye whereupon we were told it would just be a few minutes longer. 15 minutes later we asked again. At this point they said everything was ready except the £45 rare chateaubriand steak and the waitress asked if we wanted them to bring out the food that was ready. By this point I was starting to lose my patience. I found this question bemusing as the other food must have been sitting under hot lights (slowing drying out) and with 3 children who had been waiting 55 mins it seems a silly question. What surprised me more was that when we said yes, the first thing to come out was the steak! The waitresses can only be described best as surly and at worst rude.

In regards to the food, it was well cooked but fairly simple. The cost of the mains at first glance seems fairly good, however when you take into account that all you get is essentially meat or fish with a choice of potato, no veg or even a salad garnish in sight it starts to become more costly. I'd heard that the portion sizes are good and to be fair I've seen far worse, but my eleven year old son easily finished the ribs and I was left wanting, even though I'd had the lion share of our steak for two (which only comes with one portion of chips). We also ordered onion rings that didn't arrive. We didn't have time for pudding due to the delays earlier.

All in all I won't be returning, which is a shame as I commented to my partner at the beginning of the meal that we would have to come back to try other things on the exciting menu. If you are looking to go out and spend good money on good food you can get far better at places like the Swan at Nibley, the Hare and Hounds in Westonbirt, the Kings Arms in Didmarton or the Old House at Home in Burton.
