If you have a minute to read the fabulous Dee & Chris’s story please do. They will make Christmas so very special to so many children this year and we’d like to thank all of you who played your part in helping a child still believe in miracles this Christmas x

Who’s coming to see Santa’s little helpers today. We’ve a little space left so get yourself down for the best roast in town. The chefs are rocking turkey, beef, pork belly and root ‘n’ nut loaf for their roast du jour

What a great place, absolutely loved our special evening. Everything was just perfect, lovely restaurant, exceptional food and great service from everyone. There is a great atmosphere here and its great to see all the staff so enthusiastic from the Bar staff, Waiters and especially the Chefs. So Thank you all for a brilliant evening. X

We had a complementary meal because we were there when the fire alarm went off and the kitchen had to close! Was lovely food, excellent, atmosphere was lovely in the restaurant and staff were fabulous ! I will be back as a paying customer , thank you so much for a lovely evening xx

We booked the Stamford for a funeral reception for 75 people. Dave and his team were fantastic. The fires were roaring, wide array of sandwiches, chicken, sweet potato wedges, fries, beef stew with crusty bread followed with sticky toffee pudding. The service was excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate recommending them to anyone as I can be extremely fussy.

We are visiting from Australia and went on a Saturday night as a table of 9 people. The food was great. The menu was interesting with good variety. The service was professional and efficient.

I don’t agree with the 10% service charge for tables of 8 or more. I work in the hospitality industry and know that 1 table of 8 is less work than 4 tables of 2 so adding a service charge is wrong. It is however discretionary.

All up it is well worth a visit.

The full English breakfast here is very nice (biggest breakfast sausage I’ve ever seen).

Party of 10 Ate in the restaurant on the opening evening of the restaurant. Excellent service, fantastic food! Few opening week glitches like no kids menu and no coffee machine. However great to have the Stamford open again and i think this is going to be an asset to Bowden/alty/hale.. great work!!

Great place to wind down at the end of the week. Shared a few starters between us combined with some excellent sides. This is a pub that’s much more than a pub. Don’t expect Michelin stars, it’s way more relaxed than that. Staff were ace. Enjoyed a great breakfast al fresco last weekend too. No faults found from us

Excellent meal tonight, the food and service was awesome, so pleased the local 'choir pub' lives up to our expectations in food as well as ambience and beer! And wine and gin! Thank you - I hope Rob's card showed you how much we love it!

User

Excellent but limited food menu but this will expand over the next few weeks. The food was delicious - steak pie was amazing and the burger had a unique sauce which was yummy...the food arrived in big portions! Beautiful decor and excellent service at affordable prices. Good luck and i hope the place gets the success it deserves.

We were a party of 12, seated in the area at the far left of the pub, which was comfortably warm. The chicken parfait and sea bream were excellent. However, we had a long wait for our puddings and, when it arrived, I found the Bailey's Trifle rather uninteresting. I'd definitely come back again though - perhaps just for 2 courses!

Party of 17, well looked after once service was underway. Friendly and helpful staff. Slight glitch with a Caesar salad on menu with chicken but arrived with fish. Otherwise very enjoyable place to spend a Sunday lunch. Roast dinner was highly rated by members of the party and the scotch egg starter was fought over!

User

My birthday meal on opening night. Staff very attentive and eager to get things right. Limited menu at the moment and no printed children's menu but a nice choice. Few minor teething issues which will be soon ironed out. Portions are huge, had a starter as a main and it was plenty. Great start, hope it continues to improve.

Just had lunch outside. Waitress very helpful regarding set menu ordering, service was relaxed. It’s a great spot in the sunshine. Love how dog friendly they are.

User

The place is very well laid out , we ate in the dining room which is a gr8 space but was rather cold . Dissapointing as our mains turned up at least 45 mins after the starter , chicken parfait I had was very tasty and roast beef good . Just need to get the slow service issues sorted and turn the heating up .... our visit was on Sunday 26th November

Celebrating my birthday with my grandchildren they got severed first ours came about hour later beautiful food but dessert they forgot about us when it did come it was the wrong ones !! Manager did knock it of the bill but did spoil it. So sort your service out The Stamford Pub. Not be going again Sorry.

Love the pub & the place - had a few issues with menu’s as we choose one week in advance the they changed the menu! Had a feeling they were short staffed but it happens to us all, long time to wait for main, would like to go back and give it another go on better terms...

Disappointing !

Much anticipated 1st visit to the restaurant since the reburb (which is ok on the whole) with reasonably high expectation after various pals saying good things about the food !

The food was 'ok' but believe there are other venues which offer better value and quality roast dinners !

Sadly service was its biggest failing; there were 3 tables in the restaurant for our early dinner yet it took over 2 hours to be served our two course meal (with no coffee as we gave up waiting)

I haven't experienced service this sporadic anywhere; our waitress when she tended to us was pleasant, chatting happily to our daughter however the wait to order drinks at the beginning of our meal set the tone; waited for drinks, waited for food (both courses) and gave up waiting to be asked if we'd like coffee !

Now although I hate being rushed during a meal I also hate desperately slow service especially when there were literally three tables to serve !

The lack of customers didn't help the atmosphere which frankly was drab; thankfully we had good company which meant we still enjoyied our time together !

A hugely disappointing visit and we won't be rushing back

£13.50 for a chicken roast dinner that we had to wait 45 minutes for and when it was served, it wasn't hot and the Yorkshire pudding was like a Rock and burnt. Young Bar persons and waiters were running around panicking and there was sauce and mayo spilt on the floor. Poorly run. Expensive dinner for poor food. Disappointing after my first visit there. Nice Refurb.

Really disappointed, had high hopes for this place as it looks fab inside since the refurb. Unfortunately our Easter bank holiday Monday meal here was very disappointing, firstly there were no Sunday roasts (fair enough it was a Monday) but the normal Monday lunch menu wasn’t available either as it was a bank holiday! When we did make our choices from the menu on offer that particular day, two of the dishes my friend wanted to order weren’t available. We waited quite a long time for our meals to arrive and when they did arrive we were one burger short, which were told had been dropped (blatant lie, it had been forgotten) The rest of us had finished by the time the missing burger appeared. My friend, a vegetarian had ordered the sag aloo, which looked nothing like a sag aloo, it was a green purée with no texture or taste - utterly revolting and she couldn’t eat it! The waitress serving us was not particularly helpful or accommodating and Unfortunately we won’t be returning here for food. Such a shame!
