We passed by chance, popped in for dinner. The menu choices were substantial, with something for everyone. Seeing the chickens on the rotisserie, then tasting them... wow! The food was plentiful and very tasty. The service was very good, all staff very friendly and helpful. The location is very pretty too! I would go back without hesitation if were are visiting the area again.

Visited yesterday with a family of four after a full day at Alton Towers. The lady providing the waitressing had been drafted in from the kitchen due to being short staffed .... when we arrived she was blatantly overworked and being treated really rudely by a number of other diners.

She was perfectly polite to any and all (even when they were unnecessarily rude) and was FANTASTIC with us.

Our youngest decided it was all a bit much and decided to have a meltdown, so I ended up leaving with him to calm him down before we ate.

When I arrived back, food was waiting and she was as attentive as she could be and lovely to the boys.

The food was great and well worth the (short) wait .... that is to be expected at 6.30 on a sunny Saturday!!

We will definitely be back if we get the chance - and hope your waitress enjoyed her day off today!!

User

Very nice eggs on toast and tea service was excellent very lovely waitress .will be back

User

Stumbled across this yesterday morning, after dropping daughter and her friends off at Alton Towers. Had breakfast, very nice indeed, service was excellent as was the food. So good in fact, we decided to have an evening meal there too! Again, we were not disappointed service and food was exceptional. Would highly recommend a visit, many thanks

User

Fantastic place. My daughter has multiple food allergies and they couldn't have been more helpful!

User

Called in to book a table in the morning for Sunday dinner, food was lovely.

User

Well done! Four of us returned for lunch today after having a very poor experience a few weeks ago. Happy to leave a good review today, as what a difference! Food was served quickly, piping hot and cooked and presented perfectly. The staff were pleasant and on the ball, there was no waiting for service. Would definitely recommend - just remember the food is traditional ‘pub grub’ and the value for money price reflects this. Very nice for what you pay.

We’ll be back!

We went for a family birthday meal & I can honestly say the food has got a lot better. In the past I have been for a meal & it was awful. The service was very good & we all thoroughly enjoyed it. No complaints at all.

User

We stopped off here after walking in the Peak District in the heat. What a lovely place and the meals are different and we both had something new, it was very refreshing.

User

Visit this pub quiet a lot ... nice lunch and our waitress was professional and pleasant . My soup was cold and it was taken back very quickly and returned piping hot . Excellent steak and onion sandwich for my dad

User

Food very good and waiters very polite. Only down side is both drinks orders we waited over 10 mins and I had to fetch them myself from the bar And they weren’t very busy!

User

Called in for Sunday breakfast... friendly staff, fairly quick service.. food was hot and well cooked and plenty of it. We ordered 3 flat white coffees which were quite weak, but the pot of tea was good!

We’ve been to the Stepping Stones before and never been disappointed!

User

Although it was early Saturday evening and the outside area was full we got seated straight away and that was 6 + highchair. Service good, food excellent!

User

Whats has happened to this place? Its gradually declined over the year, poor service and poor food. We would regularly visit here for pub grub in the past, the staff were friendly and accommodating and food was nice. But over the past 6 months something has changed and not for the better.

User

Not a lot of choice for celiacs had a jacket potato with tuna and lettuce no tomato no cucumber just coleslaw wasn’t impressed expected more salad stuff and less tuna

User

Me and my sister visited here today with our partners and kids. well the service was great but the food was awful came out in different times not all the same had to ask twice for mine and my sisters and when it did come out it tasted as it was quickly made and cold greasy isnt the word no taste at all we had the same beef dinner. Pudding tasted like is was over done in microwave wouldnt recommend or come again and for the price expected more

User

Lovely chicken off the rotisserie but everything else was awful. Yes i asked for mash. I should have asked 'mashed what?' 'Rubber?'. Kids meals were microwaved to the point of destruction. Honestly. Go somewhere else. Unsurprisingly the staff never asked how our meals were.

User

I was staying in the Travelodge on Tuesday night and as its the nearest eatery Oil went for an early meal being quite tired after a long drive.

The bar staff were cheerful and attentive and sorted out a bottle ofalbec for me.

The food however looked and tasted like it had been left over from the lunchtime service.

I was too tired to Argentina so left most of it made my excuses and left.

Last night we frequented Artisan in the town. Much nicer.

User

I ordered a salad but didnt realise that it was just a plate of salad leaves. I thought £9.95 for a plate of leaves and a very small amount of chicken was robbery.
