Good pub to sit in front of the fire with a beer after going up Old Man of Coniston

The crackling fire after a cold walk was great. Drinks are a bit pricey but I suppose it's the location.

After walking around trying to find a menu to suit us both we finally settled on the Sun. Tucked a little out of the way it seemed mostly to have been frequented by locals which is always a good sign. The food was delicious and the service attentive without being overly in your face. We did have quite a wait and it would have been nice to have been informed of this when ordering but actually it served as a good gap between courses.

Food took a while to come. There was glasses left on the table which staff seemed to ignore until we requested them to be moved. Food was average but the price we paid we would of expected more.

Great place to start or end at after a walk to Coniston. Quiet when we went in but a nice place with outdoor seating.

We stopped here for a few drinks after our coniston walk. The place has a large outside area on a few different levels. The bottom had a kids play area. Inside the place, There was a part which looked like an old fashioned English pub and an area which was a lot more modern, used for functions etc. There was a little water feature inside the conservatory part which we thought was very quaint. We loved the fact that it had lots of chickens just clucking about between the tables. I have only given this place 4 stars because of the staff. It took us a long time to get served. The staff seemed a little slow to serve the crowd at a very small bar, We even heard a male bar tender say to a faster serving girl to slow down as shes making him dizzy! When we did order, a white wine spritzer and a pint came to £10.70 which we thought was extortionate! As I was collecting the drinks I was told to move out of the way by a staff member who was trying to serve someone else, which I thought quite unnecessary as I was in the process of doing so!

Lovely stop-off after a long walk! Great beer garden and great service.
