The Sun Inn At Crook Description
The village pub, the whitewashed Sun Inn, dates from 1711. The Sun is a traditional Lakeland inn with stone floors and roaring fires in the winter, it began life as a row of cottages, the occupants of one of them served beer to travellers from a front room.
Traditional, atmospheric, friendly run, dog and child friendly pub, in the beautiful setting of Crook, just outside of Kendal, within the beautiful Lake District and only five miles from Lake Windermere.
If you’re a walker, or someone who simply likes riding around the lakes in the car, the Sun Inn is the place for you. With plenty of parking, and immediate access to numerous easy, scenic, and low level walks, very close to Lake Windermere not far from Kendal, our customers visit us again and again. We like to get to know you personally –and we know that, whether you’re staying for a few days, or just grabbing a pint (or two), you’ve probably just had an exciting, exhausting day out, and want to relax, and enjoy some home cooked food, without having to remove your walking boots, or worry about what you’re going to do with the dog.
We can accommodate, couples, singles, families, groups and clubs.

Wow. My wife and I both ordered the Picanha Rump steak and were both impressed. An excellent plate of food offering fantastic value for money. The only disappointment was that I was driving so I couldn't sample a pint of ale with lunch. A taxi for me next time as we will definitely be back soon.
Went to day had fish fingers sandwich and chips and me dad had fish and chips and me mum had jacket potato and beans. Was so nice and the fish was excellent proper cut chips as well the young lady that was serving was lovely and helpful
Went here tonight after winning a prize on Facebook. What a lovely place and left wondering why we had never been before. The food was excellent especially the bread and butter pudding. Lovely atmosphere and very attentive staff. Thank you for a really enjoyable evening � we will definitely be back!
We visited the Sun Inn on New Years Eve , we had 2 motorhomes which Pauline let us stay over in the car park overnight. We had a meal in the pub and we brought in the New Year as well .
The meals we had were excellent will definitely be returning here and would recommend it friends , family and motorhomers !!
The staff at the sun are fantastic, very friendly and you feel comfortable instantly. The food is out of this world. Last night I had the chilli prawns followed by their signature toad in the hole. All were exceptional and portions are extremely hearty. We will definitely be back for what has been the best food we have eaten this whole trip. Well done guys, see you next time 😀
Really warm welcome upon arrival, the food, beer and hospitality was great and the pub is dog friendly. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you have a campervan :)
Popped in on the off chance, staff are lovely and the ham is amazing, food is delicious. Toddler loved it and got spoilt with ice cream by the chef. Definitely be coming here when we're up ☺

Hadn't visited here for years used to visit often when lived nearby. The sun inn is a hidden gem in the lakes, food was excellent and hosts very attentive and welcoming. Even showed us how to get £5 off our food bill. Will definitely be returning.

Four of us ,including two Mums,went for the Mothers Day special today.Lovely,cosy atmosphere and super friendly and efficient staff.The food choices were excellent and everything hot and beautifully thought out and presented.Most enjoyable.Will certainly come again.

When we visited for a drink the staff were excellent - very friendly and accommodating. Lovely log fire and games to play.
Unfortunately the nightly offer was changed after we had arranged to go in - went for a drink on Tuesday, arranged to go in on Thursday for 1p dessert night but when we went in we were told it had changed on Wednesday and they wouldn't honour it. Mediocre starters (tasteless soup with rubbish bread) excellent burgers for main but didn't stick around for dessert. Unfriendly barman.

Had lunch yesterday it was ok, my husband had the seabass brioche and he liked it, l had onglet steak ciabatta but basically it was a beef sandwich and our onion rings didn't arrive so a bit disappointing but the pub is lovely so we will be back
