Tomorrow night is Freddie’s last night at the pub, she has been with us 18 months and will be sorely missed, so we would like to give her a great sending off so pop down and wish her well!! And live music is on Thursday so busy week at the pub!!

Jack Buckley is an original singer/songwriter from Macclesfield. With influences such as Tom Odell, London Grammar and Fleetwood Mac. Jack always raises the roof and we are excited to have him back!

What a great party venue, my daughter hosted her engagement party here last night, James and his amazing team made it a night to remember. Beautiful interior and brilliant beer garden. The food was unique and delicious. Highly recommend this venue

We’ve visited for the first time tonight and have to say the food was incredible!! The staff were so friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home! With a real hearty menu to choose from we were spoilt for choice but went for queenie scaollps and wood pidgeon to start and each mouthful was superb! To follow we finally decided on the crown of grouse and the venison pie and again absolutely faultless! Highly highly recommend this place especially if your looking for something a little bit special, different and for a real taste of the countryside but all for such reasonable prices!!! We can’t wait to return and sample some more of the dishes! We were shocked to see not many people in as this pub should be packed with the food on offer and we really hope it soon ends up that way as it deserves to be!! Looking forward to our next visit!! 5*

We went for lunch here today with our dog and it was fantastic! Quality fresh cooked food, friendly and great service. We'll definitely be back to try everything else on the menu!

Myself and my wife had a fantastic meal at The Sutton Gamekeeper last night. The presentation of the food is awesome and the taste even better. We had the Sancere to go with our meal and it was divine. We will be back very soon for sure! Thanks to all the friendly staff for making our night a great one.

My only regret is that I haven’t been here any sooner. Been twice so far and think it may be my favourite place to eat around Macclesfield. The menu is excellent.



Highly recommend the seared pigeon breast to start and the hare and pancetta lasagne for the mains. Good atmosphere, nice decor and nice staff. No long wait for the food and it was fresh and delicious. Two courses for £15 midweek as well. What more could you want. We will be back soon.

Loved the ambiance and friendly staff. The menu is seasonal and gives you the chance to try something different. The food is well presented and plenty of it. Definitely be visiting again.

Just had an amazing lunch here for Mother’s Day. We had cod loin, roast beef and fish and chips, all absolutely delicious. Thank you!

Another amazing meal last night at the gamekeeper. In fact I’d go so far as to say it’s one of the best meals I’ve ever had anywhere! Excellently cooked locally sourced food, you can’t beat it. So glad we live near such a wonderful pub. Thank you James and team! �

We called in with our children to hear Sara Hawley doing an afternoon set there - which was brilliant btw. We weren't intending to stay for food, but once we'd seen the Sunday roasts on the table next to us we were too tempted to leave! We had roast beef and veggies....cooked to perfection and delicious crispy Yorkshire Puddings too. Very glad we stayed...and they were really accommodating to our boys food fancies as well (albeit not having homemade pizza on the menu! �). Thank you for a really pleasant Sunday afternoon.

The food when it comes is fantastic, it’s just a pity it took so long to arrive, over an hour for main courses. Disappointed that several items were sold out as “we came late”, - 1.30?? Staff very nice though. Forgot one of our items and had to remind about drinks ordered too. No proper chairs, bar stools for a 3 course meal? Also a bit odd that staff had to reach over my head for cutlery?? I would be tempted to try it again, but today’s visit was a bit disappointing sorry.
