Staff wonderful and helpful, beautiful hotel, gorgeous rooms, very friendly atmosphere, gorgeous place to stay, right next to the river with a nature walk too, truly stunning.
Only complaint I have; i ordered garlic & herb rotisserie chicken with avocado salad with bacon and apple from their bar early evening, i received - with no apology or reason as to why it wasn’t what was ordered or detailed on the menu... roast chicken - absolutely no garlic or herb, the ‘salad’ was a few strips of cucumber with a few salad leaves (not rocket), the apple pie with clotted cream came with ice cream, upon me mentioning it (i dont like ice cream) they changed it to clotted cream however it was the most minuscule (less than a teaspoon) serving of clotted cream i had ever seen or been served... Although it tasted nice, due to prices and not serving what they offer, I would recommend eating out (away from the hotel) to be honest.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the Swan. Generally I prefer to stop at the Whitewater , but that's a personal preference. The Swan does it all, with excellent accommodation, a not-too-bad bar with cask beers and adequate spa and fitness centre. The decor doesn't do it for me, and they do a good job of making me feel about thirty years too old for them (I still can't shed that invisibility cloak when I'm stood at the bar waiting for attention), but the breakfasts make up for it all. If in doubt, give it a go. I'd avoid half-term holidays (hell on wheels) but try it out for yourselves. If you're susceptible to migraines, take a pair of sunglasses as some of the rooms can be gaudy to the extreme, but go on, give it a go - you might like it.

Fantastic. Only issue was that work was being done on the road outside the entrance and unfortunately we were on the ground floor close to it and so were woken up early by the drilling etc (although of course I understand that it had to be done sometime and that the weekdays are probably quieter!) Spa lovely. Massage was wonderful. The food at the Swan Inn was delicious and beautifully presented. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Dinner with family. Restaurant was fairly busy but service was good. Starters (soup and bubble & squeak) were tasty. Main courses (burger, kids fish and chips, veal) were all good. Veal wasn't that special, but veg were excellent. Only had one dessert (rest of us were stuffed) which was a an excellent Billionaire's Cheesecake. Overall it was an enjoyable meal.

This is a little gem of a hotel, full of comfortable nooks and crannies with sofas and chairs to sit and enjoy a drink and a chat. There are lots of thoughtful little touches in the room, like the umbrella in case you need it! Nice food, good drinks - both from the juice bar, and from the real bar - and friendly attentive staff. The pool area was just what was need to recharge the batteries. Will definitely be back!

We spent the afternoon here by the river and it is lovely. So picturesque with the river, bridge, green fields and the steam trains nearby. Thoroughly enjoyed our day!
