Had a new mural put on the back wall of the pub, if you stand on the opposite side of the road you get a better view of it, it’s what the area looked like in 1937, where Sainsbury’s now stands.

Well I've changed my image once more to 'Au natrelle' .

Well it's been a week since I had my gable wall painted and I'm waiting in trepidation for the onslaught of bad press but just to clarify to anyone interested as to why I did it. Sweet Green is actually an area of Bolton the same as Daubhill, Deane and Farnworth etc., there is only a few buildings left here as most have gone and The Sweet Green is the only one carrying the name. This train crash was a huge event in its day and I have had this done to commemorate it and the area, I could have left it purely as a picture but the historian in me decided as it was a recorded event then those people who recorded it should be given the credit as the same as ZONE who put it up for me. I'm Kevin Banks also known as "Banksy", please come in and see the artwork in the beer garden as there are two other Banksy style paintings there.

Well, punch have reneged on a five year oral agreement for us to be tied on our four top selling lagers, however we had six draught which still left two free of tie, we bought all our packaged lager from them as they were the cheapest around. They put four brulines in and the sweet green stuck to there end of the deal, we bought Stella, fosters, carling and budweiser from them. We are still tied to buy our lager from them and we will continue to do so but no where in our cont...ract does it say we have to sell them, just that we have to purchase from them, which we will as previously stated. However we have temporarily taken them all off and replaced them with 13 guns an American pale ale 5.5%, crafty Dan an Australian pale ale 4.2%, greengate bitter a session ale, erdinger 5.5%, konig Ludwig weissbier 5.5%, hoegarten wheat bier 5.5%, all packaged lagers have sold out. Sweet Green are now speciallising in cask, craft and continental beers, it's been a good week with little or no loss of turnover.

This minnow has teeth, beware. Sweet green took punch taverns to court in London in October for breach of contract and won a substantial pay out for them doing so. However they are still ignoring us, maybe because they are 2.3 billion in debt, paying thousands out makes them think they can just ignore us, power to the little people

I know my posts are not as prolific as some but hey I still like to live in the real world as well lol. 12th April, do I continue to push and promote this pub, the answer has to be yes, has punch gone back into it's shell, the answer seems to suggest that they've gone dark, however we ar not yet half way through there key month of April, will this month prove to be there Alamo or Waterloo. Business is still good and all are welcome to this oasis of Bolton, the Sweet Green, if you know what's happening let the rest of us know

The financial year end is upon us and we are in limboland with regards to punch taverns. Carlsberg have stopped supplying wine and spirits to punch, other breweries have stopped trading with punch, they have told me so. Is this, other companies, pulling up their drawbridges because they fear that punch wont be able to pay their bills after april, if they go into administration. I rent my building from punch because they wont sell it to me at a fair price. Other than that i am a free house, totally free of tie. Has anyone any views on this?

We come to the end of another busy year, the Sweet Green remains resolute in its ethos of giving the customers what they want. Towards that end, we remain a free house insofar that we can sell anything you require but although i am free of tie i am not free of punch taverns, dont get me wrong, they are a good company if you stand up to them but they dont live in the real world. I own my business but i dont own the building it sits in, punch do and they wont sell it to me at a... fair market value. Whats fair i here someone ask? Well the three closest punch pubs that all failed have been sold for under 200,000 each, one was for as little as 70,000 which has now reopened as a post office and a shoe shop, one is still a pub and one is boarded up, yet the Sweet Green is smaller than two of them and punch want me to make an offer north of 750,000, having already turned down 650,000 so where is the parity and clarity in that.

Well where does one begin? First off the tale of Munich! I was walking through town one day and I happened to glance into Olympus chip restaurant window when I saw wyn davies sat there with Freddy hill, as I've known them for years I went in to say hello and to catch up with the latest news. Freddy went to order some food and wyn leant in close and said "you don't suppose the acronym Munich stood for ......", I'll not repeat it but at that time i had never heard of it. Wow! H...ow thought provoking it was. So when I came back to the pub I wrote what he had said on the blackboard, merely as a way to broach a topic of conversation and in true authors style, I credited him with what he'd said. All hell broke loose as the local rag, the Bolton news covered it, creditting me with the acronym and altering facts and photoshopping the board to make it appear as if I was slagging off the tragic dead of Manchester united, I have too much respect for that. I still support Denis laws charity "football aid". It went viral in the papers and on "tinternet", I was threatened with arrest. The most accurate coverage of the story was written by Sam Greenhill of the daily mail, so writer beware.
