Went for a birthday meal on 17th jan. Food was great and the service was brilliant from a young lad, he was very polite. The Receipt said Micky so please thank him for great service. Will be back again ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ
My friend and I had lunch yesterday for my friends birthday. The staff were lovely, the sandwiches were fresh and delicious and the staff even put a candle in my friends desert and gave her a lovely card. Can't wait to go back and would recommend the place highly.
My Mum and I went here for mothering Sunday lunch. This was our first visit but definitely won't be our last. I travelled from the Fylde Coast to take my mum to this restaurant, the food was excellent i had the slow cooked shoulder of lamb, mum had a Turkey roast i had a glass of the house malbec it was delicious. The lady that looked after us i think was the manager she was fabulous and made us feel very welcome. Thank you Team Thorn Inn
Just had a meal here tonight and the food was lovely. I am vegetarian and often limited with choice as don't eat meat or fish but there was lots of choices. I chose the vegetarian fish (halloumi) and chips and then the salted caramel cheesecake which was pure divine x well recommended and looking forward to another meal here soon. Staff lovely too
Im really shocked at the other reviews. We went for Sunday lunch and it was beautiful. Staff where lovely and my son who is an extremely fussy eater said it was the best pub lunch he'd ever had! Other peoples food looked amazing too!
Had the two course deal, picked speciality burger with skinny fries and bbq sauce, it was lovely. Really thick juicy burger, couldn't fault it. Picked salted caramel Sundae for Dessert, it was gorgeous but unfortunately my hubbie had to finish it off as I was too full. Lovely meal in fab surroundings, much better than your usual pub. We will definitely be back.
Meal was absolutely fantastic, 8 of us had a really good meal. The only criticism was the speed of the service which was very slow but staff very pleasant and helpful
Although the food was good the amount served was not. I ordered chicken burger with coleslaw, which amounted to a small tablespoon. Considering the prices charged you'd think you'd get a decent amount on your plate. This place used to be really busy and on a Saturday evening the place was empty. You need to buck up your food to get customers back after all the sides are not a afterthought and they are cheap to produce.
When Oh when are staff going to start using their judgements when giving customers poorly prepared food???
17.95 for a steak.... Arrived with a cremated tiny jacket potato...chef hadn't even bothered cooking the tomato... Straight from the fridge...disgusting... Rip off...
When I complained the waitress commented that it 'didnt look good' why give it in the first place???
By the time thereplacement arrived everyone else in group had finished so ate on my own!!
Before anyone says it was a one off.. Two People on the table next too us also returned their meals.
The food took a while to come. 2 people in our group had the same thing, the chef kitchen bowl which was new potatoes, sweet potato, salad and choice of meat and dressing. The potatoes were rock hard and covered in bad black bits running all the way through the potato. There wasn't even any sweet potato! One salmon was undercooked. A few lettuce leaves looked a week old. We complained when the waitress came back but never got any apology or feedback. One person had the hog roast burger, very dry and over cooked and the bun was toasted far too much. Overall we left hungry and disappointed.
Slow service of nearly an hour for food with only 1 person working. Floor covered in dog hairs and free entertainment while we were eating with someone walking around the room spraying to kill ants
Ordered 3 Sunday dinner and a chicken burger.
Sunday lunch portions are shocking especially for the extortionate price, mash is extra, gravy extra, vegetables raw.
Chicken burger came looked like it had just been defrosted and thrown on a burn bun.
WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND
Lovely pub inside and the staff are lovely but food took too long to come even when not busy and when it did the fish I ordered was burnt and inedible. Guy at the next table sent his steak back and it took over half an hour to get a replacement and by that time his partner had finished her meal! Drink I ordered (OJ/cranberry juice), had zero cranberry in it and was served in a glass so thick felt like I was drinking out of a vase! Donโt think Iโll be returning! ๏ฟฝ
Wow.... Table of 13 went tonight -What awful staff and service. Food average. We had to go to the bar every time we wanted something- even to request a menu. The ladies that served us rolled their eyes & made us feel like a pain for requesting anything. Don't dare ask if something contains nuts for your severely allergic child- best to avoid the whole menu..... In fact best to avoid the restaurant. :-(
We visited this afternoon for a treat for my mum after visiting fox covert cemetery for the anniversary of my dad passing . Never been so disappointed ! Firstly the cutlery and napkin was disgusting with food still remaining on them.. secondly the wrong starter was brought to the table ..thirdly the food provided was of poor quality and strange tasting , I ordered sandwiches which was wet and soggy with the coleslaw juice running through them .. I would definately not be returning . This place is nothing on par with The Swan at winwick which is also a Chef n brewer establishment .
Waited half an hour & the food was terrible. The children's pasta was dried out & they'd "deconstructed" it (why?!) the children's roast had cold meat & the veg looked inedible on that & the main meal roast, both Yorkshires were not just cold but wet. The chips in another meal were dried out & barely warm. We left & went to the chippy.
This place was recommended by a friend so was looking forward to it. Unfortunately we where both extremely disappointed with this visit. My partner decided on Chicken & Pancetta pie to be told no longer on the menu. Then decided on Lasagna to be told none left. Going for third time lucky we decided to go for sharing platter to be told there is no Chicken & Chorizo skewers available. In the end she decided on Fish & Chips British classic what could go wrong with that. The batter was soggy not cooked and not crispy when prodded very greasy. Nobody did a check back whist we where eating the meal so we just carried on. When we told the server she said its a new batter. The pub itself was very nice but unfortunately the food was very disappointing so did not make for a great first time experience.
It was 6 months since our last meal at The Thorn Inn it was a disaster so we though we would give it another chance yesterday sausage and mash rubber part cooked sausages it is just as bad we have asked them to stop sending offers as we would never eat there again surges to chef and brewer send Somone in and have s meal incognito it's a shame as we. Live local
I hate leaving poor reviews but my experience at the Thorn Inn was one of the worst I've ever had. First the positives. The setting was lovely and the staff very pleasant. However, that's where it ended. On the website it says they have a special summer menu which we would have picked from.We got there and found out it was not running. We asked about several items to be told they were not available and then the food we ordered came. My mum had the garden salad-it was disgusting, tepid and the halloumi was so over done it was like rubber. I had a chicken burger and the chicken was also over cooked but passable. My daughter had sausage, mash and beans. The mash was the most disgusting mash I've ever (or anything else for that matter) tasted. It was hard, tepid and resembled something that you would plaster with in consistency. It was vile. My daughter had a bad stomach the next day. The only saving grad was that we had vouchers for money off because if we had had to pay the full amount I would not have done it. I am so disappointed and will not be visiting again.I wish I had spent my vouchers elsewhere.
