We often get asked a number of questions about dummies. ItŌĆÖs hard for a baby and also parent, from a comfort point of view, to part with a dummy. As children grow it can affect their oral development.
The dummy will encourage an open bite, which is when teeth move to make space for the dummy.
... The dummy may also affect speech development which is why we advise children from talking or making sounds with their thumb or a dummy in their mouth.
We also advise not to dip dummies in any sweet drinks or food as this will encourage dental caries (decay)
The British Dental Association recommends that the dummy is given up at the age of 12 months in order to reduce the chance of associated oral health problemsŌŁÉ’ĖÅ­¤Æ½
