Today I've received my portrait and I love it! It's really captured my Tudor persona โš”๏ธ๐Ÿค“ thank you to Ste Morris for painting it for me! My beard and moustache were longer when this was done as you can see ๐Ÿง”๐Ÿผ

If one photo can sum up Gloucester cathedral this would be it ๐Ÿ˜ although not Tudor, the cloisters has found itself the backdrop of many a Tudor film or TV programme. Most recently you would have seen it in the new Mary Queen of Scots film, but previous years shows such as Wolf Hall, the White Princess and David Starkey documentaries ๐Ÿค“ Gloucester is undoubtedly one of the UK's finest cathedrals!

May 19th 1536 Queen Anne Boleyn was executed on Tower Green. ๐Ÿ‘‘
Anne was buried in the Tower's chapel of St Peter ad Vincula without any memorial. Anne's remains were discovered in 1876 and now under this marble (pic below). If you look at the marble you'll see her name and coat of arms โš”๏ธ

Channeling my inner Tudor! Tonight is a time of reflection, what must have been going through Anne Boleyn's mind the night before her execution? โš”๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป

If the Tudors had Snapchat ๐Ÿ˜‚ I thought for a bit of fun I would I would see what some famous faces would look like! Who's the prettiest? Henry VIII is definitely a man in drag haha

Cardinal Wolsey's Closet at Hampton Court Palace is the only private room that survives from his palace. I've been to many Tudor related buildings but there is something absolutely stunning about this room! I've been lucky enough to spend 15 minutes in this room on my own letting my imagination take me back into Tudor England โš”๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‘ The ceiling is very ornate and around the border of the room is a religious painting showing the story from the last supper to the resurrection ๐Ÿ™ The portrait of Henry VIII in this room is said to be one of very few paintings painted whilst he was still alive!

All over Britain these ruins are a stark reminder of the reformation, with Henry VIII taking back control from the Catholic Church in an act of nationalisation... 'Dissolution of the Monasteries' 1536-1541 โ›ช๐Ÿ‘‘
Monastic land and buildings were confiscated and sold off to families who sympathised with Henryโ€™s break from Rome. By 1540 monasteries were being dismantled at a rate of fifty a month. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
Did you know the nursery rhyme 'little Jack Horner' is believed to be connected ...to the dissolution?
Below are Fountains abbey, Tintern abbey and Glastonbury abbey
