only found the ugly duckling at the end of holiday a very friendly place ,lovely food and welcoming staff . Had our dog with us and the owner told us we were welcome to take him in which you don't find very often .thank-you all for a enjoyable time.

We were lucky to be able to eat there yesterday as there had been a cancellation. Brilliant carvery, succulent meat and fab roast potatoes. Will certainly be going back when the family visit but will be sure to book. Really friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.

We went to the ugly ducking yesterday whilst my youngest daughter was at a party. As soon as we sat down we were provided with a highchair for our baby. Our order was taken and the food came out promptly. My other half ordered the big breakfast which he rated a 10/10 and I had a cream tea which was divine. My little one loved all the ducks too. Great service, great food we'll definately be going again next time we visit dawlish.

We visited here last week, with an elderly relative for lunch. The carvery was first class and the service excellant. My elderly cousin was provided with a child's portion, and it was the first time she has cleared a plate and felt relaxed eating out for some considerable time, as she is local she informed us she was going back again . The staff were really wonderful, and you didn't feel as if you were in a licensed restaurant at all. We were so impressed, that the day before we travelled home, my husband and I treated ourselves to a Devonshire cream tea here to, two words 'the best', and we have sampled many in the 60+ years we have been visiting Devon. See you again next time we travel down and THANK YOU. �

Very friendly & welcoming staff. We wanted a table for 8 & they squeezed us in dispite being extremely busy. Food was excellent best carvery I've had for a long time. Will definitely go back & certainly recommend anyone going to Dawlish then go ��

This hidden gem is a Fabulous place to eat homemade wholesome food. Staff and owners were wonderfully accommodating as we spontaneously descend on them 10mins before they closed! They stayed open and extra 2 hours and could not do enough for us. They are child friendly allowed our dog to come in (I think as a one off). I can not recommend this venue enough! Xxxxx

There is nothing ugly about the Duckling food fantastic Sunday carvery wonderful cooked to perfection and all you can eat. Staff Fantastic and the owner barrow fun of laughs from entering till going. What a great place. Being going there now for 6 years and would go back again tomorrow. Brilliant.

Stopped in here today and we were made to feel very welcome. Even though the place was really busy they managed to fit us in. Wow the carvery was fantastic and well the syrup sponge pudding was devoured by my 8 year old in minutes. Will definitely return as soon as we can :-)

Only been here once before but it was like it was yesterday, the lady remembered us and my wobble. When you consider the amount of people who pass through their door on a daily basis she has a great memory. Fabulous place, fabulous food, plenty of choice at reasonable prices and excellent location. You really need to Book in advance for the Sunday Carvery to save disappointment, there was a choice of four meats and plenty of different vegetables. Nothing seems too much trouble, we will be back soon.

My wife and I found our experience there wonderful! The food was great, and we loved chatting with the owner. In a small way we helped her celebrate her birthday! It's a lovely and inviting place. We will return on our next visit!

Lovely staff and really nice food. We had the carvery yesterday (23.07.17) and it was delicious. 4 choices of meat and plenty of veg. Had a really good laugh with the staff. Always go there when we're in Dawlish. Have been going there for years.

I have never been disappointed with a good old fashioned carvery at the Ugly Duckling. Mum and I missed a few weeks over the last couple of months but managed to get back for Mothers Day. It was a great meal, with an extra special atmosphere. For a change we saved space for afters, and were not disappointed, I would certainly do Banoffee Crunch again - unless they produce Butterscotch Tart!!!

I have been three times and the staff are lovely. The meals are superb and serve an excellent carvery. Totally recommended X

Had the big breakfast here on 14 9 17 at the start of our journey home kept us going rest of tbe day 12hours approx evetything freshly cooked and hot service was brilliant nothing to much trouble what a treat to be waited on and feel welcomb will definatly go again go on give it a try

Being a coeliac it very hard for me to eat any where , this was my first time to the ugly duckling and there where amazing !! So understanding on the disease. They automatically washed all equipment !! I had a nice huge jug of gluten free Garvey made just for me and they talked me though what was in everything !! They even offered me an amazing gluten free desert and the ice cream that I can have as well !! I would highly recommend this friendly welcoming restaurant to any one and I will be coming back. Thank you so much for a welcoming experience ����
