The University Of Sheffield Tennis Club Description

The University of Sheffield Tennis Club welcomes all university students of any ability. The club has four teams (two Men's and two Women's) who represent the University in the Northern BUCS leagues. This year, the club has introduced a development squad which competes in an intra-mural league with Sheffield Hallam University. The club also offers weekly social sessions, club tournaments and frequent socials ending in ROAR the University Sports night. The club is also the current holder of the 'Commitment to Inclusions' award given to one sport club at the University of Sheffield.

Both the Men's teams compete in the Northern 2B BUCS league and both Women's teams are in the Northern 2B BUCS league. The teams also compete in and support the annual Varsity Season. It is the pinnacle event in the University sport's calendar where each sport competes against Sheffield Hallam University in order to gain points for the overall Varsity win. As a Club we share the University’s undefeated FOUR YEAR VICTORY over Hallam.

Social tennis is held weekly on Wednesdays from 2-4pm at Rustlings Tennis Club (Collegiate Crescent, Sheffield, S10 2BR). All abilities are welcome and it is a great opportunity to improve your skills, meet new people and have fun whilst playing tennis.

This year, we're proud to be supporting the Sheffield Children's Hospital and we will be holding various fundraising events throughout the year, including a 24 hour rally-a-thon and our fancy dress May Day tournament. The club is also an avid supporter of the University's #weareinternational campaign and we hold a deep commitment to retaining our international members and alumni.

Due to the weather - the condition of the courts have been deemed unsafe so we’ve had to cancel this weeks social tennis session and also postpone the This Girl Can session. We will hopefully be able to run another TGC session in the future so keep an eye out!

The biggest event in the Tennis Calendar is back...
One year on from our spectacular 18-0 whitewash victory at the Hallamshire, Team Black and Gold are taking to the court once more to battle it out against our nearest rivals, Sheffield Hallam. In an attempt to help UoS achieve their 7th consecutive Varsity win, our Mens 1s and 2s will be playing for the two available points on offer. (Please note that unfortunately this year, due to circumstances out of our control, there ...will be no Women's Tennis fixture.)
As always, the matches are played at the Hallamshire Tennis Club which is only a 5 minute walk away from Endcliffe Village and a 15 minute walk away from the uni campus! Entry is FREE, and there is a restaurant and bar so you can stay refreshed while watching some top tier tennis.
Anyone and everyone welcome, bring along your flatmates/coursemates/parents/dog, there's only 1 rule...
Bleed Black and Gold. 💪🏼
See you out there,
💛🖤
