Spring.

Today we potted on the second waive of chillies, just need some sunshine now to help them along! We hope you are all staying safe in these unsettling times.

The second waive of germination is well underway. These Serrano seeds were sown last Wednesday and are already making an appearance!

So today’s our 5th Chilli Wars competition in The Upton Inn, Upton Cheyney.
It’s free to enter with a donation to Children With Cancer UK that secures your ‘tasting spoon’.
This spoon will give you access to sample 13 different chilli con carne’s presented by some of the UK’s finest competitive cooking teams!
... Your job, is to rate each chilli as you sample. Once you’ve tried every Chilli, you leave your spoon with your favourite team. This is essentially your vote.
It’s great fun, there’s a huge raffle and the pub is gurt lush.
There’s also a food based quiz later in the afternoon for those wanting to make a day of it.

The first chillies have been potted on today, safely onto the heated mat, covered in fleece! Second waive of chillies sown, including Jalapeño, Serrano, Fatali and orange habanero. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us now!

One week today till Chilli Wars!
This will be the 5th year that the event has been held in The Upton Inn in Upton Cheyney - right next to the chilli farm!
There are 13 teams entered. All competing to cook the very best Chilli Con Carne, which will be judged on 5 criteria - appearance, aroma, flavour, texture and after-taste.
... The event starts at midday with public judging at 1.30pm ish... There will also be a raffle and ‘Food, Glorious Food’ pub quiz afterwards.
It’s a free to enter event, with all proceeds going to Children With Cancer UK.

The seedlings are on the move again! This time in advance of storm Dennis! Hopefully this will be the last storm for a while! Hoping the tunnels survive!

They survived! Thank goodness! Chillies now safely back in germination tunnel!

Better safe than sorry as we evacuate the germination tunnel of all the seedlings. Very worried about the incoming storm!

Chilli Wars - Episode 5 - is being held at the Upton Inn in Upton Cheyney on Saturday, February 29th with the fun starting at midday.
With 14 of the UK’s most respected competitive cooking teams entered, public tasting and judging will start from around 1.30pm followed by charity raffle and ‘Food, Glorious Food’ pub quiz! Arrive from midday to soak up the atmosphere and purchase your tasting spoons and r...affle tickets.

We are now back after the Christmas break and are still harvesting! This little lot was picked this morning before we clear the tunnels to start this year’s germination.

Just a reminder that midday today is the deadline for orders to arrive before Christmas! The chilli kitchen will then be taking a well earned break over the festive season and will be back in production on the 6th January! We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year. Thank you for all your support throughout 2019, it really does mean so much to us as a small business.
