Dear All,
The Vernon Arms will be undergoing an extensive period of refurbishment during 2019 which will require it to cease trading as both public house and restaurant.
This will require an extended period of closure and significant commitment and is not a venture that we feel we can undertake.
... It is therefore with sincere regret and disappointment that we announce that we will be taking this opportunity to retire. Sunday 6th January will be our final day of trading.
We have always tried our hardest to produce the best food and drinks for our guests, most of whom have complimented us on our service. The number of 5* trip advisors and google reviews are testament to this.
Julian has worked tirelessly to prepare our ales and give a great selection, both with Marston's and independent breweries. He has always been meticulous in keeping the lines clean and the ales fresh.
We have strived to provide good quality, freshly prepared food for our diners. We have had a few mistakes in the past, but the current team, ably led by Baz, are preparing some of the best meals that we have ever served. Lydia's cakes and desserts will be sorely missed.
We would like to thank all of our brilliant staff for the way they have worked tirelessly to keep our customers satisfied, always with a bright smile and a friendly welcome, even in times of adversity. Mel, Kate and Michaela have kept the bar ticking over smoothly, and Grace, Hannah, Honey have served the tables with great aplomb.
Please join us over the next few days and also come to our final leaving quiz on Sunday 6th January at 7.30pm ti say goodbye and drink us dry.
